Mortal Kombat 11 Meta
Mortal Kombat 11 has not even been on store shelves for more than one month, so we have yet to see the meta completely materialize on the esports scene. But there are a few characters that have distinguished themselves as top tier.
Geras, Erron Black, Scorpion and Liu Kang have all been popular picks in the limited competitive life of MK11. Both Geras and Erron Black are widely accepted as two of the strongest characters in the game with the broken Sonya Blade (aka Ronda Rousey) also in the mix. However, there is still plenty of time for a character such as Sub-Zero or Noob Saibot to find their footing in the top of the competitive Mortal Kombat 11 scene.
Summit of Time Favorite: SonicFox
There is no need to get cute with this. Sonicfox is the best MK player right now and he absolutely dominated Mortal Kombat X. Aside from just being good at the game, Sonicfox also has the luxury of his Mortal Kombat X main, Erron Black, still being a top tier in MK11.
Sonicfox has already pulled the ultimate flex move on the MK11 scene. During the Grand Finals of NLBC Summit of Time Qualifier, he used Mercy against Semiij. This allows you to give your opponent extra health after defeating them to give them another chance to win. Of course, Sonicfox immediately finished Semiij after.
Long and short, until someone knocks Sonicfox off the perch, he is the favorite in every Mortal Kombat 11 tournament he enters.
Summit of Time Dark Horse: Dragon
Anyone who follows fighting games knows who Dragon is. Though he is likely more well-known for his Injustice 2 play, Dragon has found himself in the Grand Finals or more than a few MKX tournaments. In fact, Sonicfox said that Dragon will be his biggest competition at Summit of Time after winning the NLBC Summit of Time qualifier.
Dragon has been playing Cetrion, a character that many have claimed to be in the upper tiers but few have actually taken up as their main. Cetrion’s zoning ability make her a difficult character to contend with especially when you consider that many of the top tier players have not been using her frequently. This element of the unknown with Cetrion could give Dragon an edge against some of the competitors at Summit of Time.
