Each title present at EWC 2024 held its own qualification tournaments/matches. Some titles also invited certain teams based on past results or current circuit placements. Most games had either open circuits for qualification or took teams/players already established in a game’s ecosystem. As a result, most of the teams present at EWC will be recognizable to those familiar with a game’s esports scene.
Over 150 different teams have already qualified for at least one title at EWC. You can view the complete list here. The vast majority of these teams are likely only playing in one tournament. As for the big esports organizations fielding rosters in multiple games, there is a bigger overall incentive.
[VenatusAd]The Esports World Cup is implementing an overall Club Championship taking place throughout the entire event. The Club Championship is essentially a running total of an organization’s overall success at the Esports World Cup. Teams earn points for their org by placing in the top eight of any game. The points distribution is as follows:
The EWC Club Championship will award the top 16 organizations with a prize pool of $20,000,000. First place will take home the lion’s share of $7,000,000. For a club to be eligible to win first, one of their teams MUST win any individual title’s tournament. Clubs will only gain points from their highest-placing team per game they participate in, so there will be no doubling up.
Any club present at the event can technically win the EWC Club Championship. However, EWC has a featured Club Program consisting of 30 of the most well-known esports organizations in the world. These partnered clubs are, for the most part, sending multiple high-ranking teams across many games. One of them will most likely take home the $7,000,000 prize.
Here is a list of the 30 partnered clubs for EWC 2024:
