The North American esports organization Allegiance is shutting down at the beginning of 2019. Allegiance’s general manager, Connor Hall, posted the announcement on the organization’s Twitter.
The North American esports organization Allegiance - who faced financial problems recently - is shutting down at the beginning of 2019.
The organization was created in 2015 and faced financial problems throughout the end of its life. Allegiance was going to shut down in 2017, however, Infinite’s acquisition of the organization breathed new life into their lungs. Unfortunately, Infinite Esports & Entertainment has run into several issues since their acquisition of OpTic Gaming and other competitive ventures.
“It hurts to say that Allegiance will be folding come the new year,” wrote Hall. “This isn’t the first time I’ve had to consider this option, though it isn’t any easier the second time around. Infinite Esports & Entertainment breathed life back into Allegiance when I first considered shutting it down. Though the past year has been a ride I won’t soon forget, Infinite leadership and I have agreed it’s time to shut the doors.” – Connor Hall, GM of Allegiance Esports.
Infinite went through a round of layoffs in October following poor business decisions and PR disasters from said decisions. The new president of Infinite, Ryan Musselman, said that the layoffs were due to the fact that they “grew too fast”. Musselman’s dedication has since been focused onto refocusing on Infinite’s “foundational” brands like OpTic Gaming, OpTic’s League of Legends team, and the Houston Outlaws Overwatch roster.
Allegiance’s last official appearance will be at Don’t Park on the Grass on December 15 and 16. Edgard “nOne” Shelby will be participating in Super Smash Bros. Melee. We hope everybody at Allegiance will land on their feet!
