Armada to Retire from Super Smash Bros. Melee Singles

Amanda Zelauskas

Known around the competitive scene as the “Swedish Sniper” for his accuracy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Adam “Armada” Lindgren released an emotional video on his Youtube announcing his retirement from singles play. Armada explained that he has been experiencing a lack of motivation for the past year. His main focuses will now be competing in doubles tournaments with his brother Andreas “Android” Lindgren and growing his stream. It seems this decision became final after he finished last at Sumer Smash Con 2018.

Throughout his singles career, Armada walked away with 21 majors and managed to hold the title of “best ranked player” for four years.

Armada is known for his play as Peach and perfecting the character. Because of him, Peach is now considered one of the top characters in the game. Throughout his singles career, he walked away with 21 majors and managed to hold the title of “best-ranked player” for four years.

Armada also helped to form and serve on the Competition Committee since 2017 and has been a vocal advocate. He even offered his spot to New York organizer Emily Sun after it came to light there were no active women sitting on the panel. With the departure of Armada, the list of “active OGs” continues to dwindle while the rise of newcomers continues to fill the gaps.
