On Friday, the Golden Guardians (GG) announced their LCS and Academy rosters for the upcoming League of Legends Summer Split. The Golden Guardians are affiliated with the Golden State Warriors NBA team and have participated in the LCS since 2018.

Their LCS roster for the Summer Split will include:

  • Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell – Top
  • Can “Closer” Çelik – Jungle
  • Tanner “Damonte” Damonte – Mid
  • Victor “FBI” Huang – AD Carry
  • Jae-Hyun “Huhi” Choi – Support

Although most of the line up remains unchanged from the Spring Split, the Guardians did acquire Damonte to serve as their new starting mid-laner. Goldenglue, who played mid during the Spring Split, was moved to the Golden Guardians Academy team.

The Golden Guardians stated in a press release: “Damonte, who competed in 2019 Worlds with Clutch Gaming, joins the Golden Guardians after competing with Dignitas Academy during the 2020 Spring Split. Çelik, Choi, Huang and Yarnell all are making returns to the GG LCS roster for the upcoming split.”

Joo-Sung “Olleh” Kim will also be joining the Gaurdians team, as a positional coach. He will focus his efforts on working with and improving Support players. Olleh played Support for the Golden Guardians Academy and LCS teams in 2019 and most recently played for the Dignitas Academy during the 2020 Spring Split. This will be Olleh’s first official coaching role in the LCS.

The LCS Summer Split will debut on Friday, June 12th and the Academy Summer Split will kick off on Thursday, June 11th.
