TSM enter women’s VALORANT scene with female roster

Scott Robertson

Team SoloMid has entered the rapidly growing women’s VALORANT scene with an all-female roster. This announcement comes just a couple of days after Counter Logic Gaming announced its CLG Red women’s division would also enter VALORANT. TSM now joins the likes of Cloud9 in fielding both a men’s and women’s roster.

One of the standout names on the new TSM women’s roster is Catherine “CAth” Leroux. CAth is a highly successful women’s CS:GO player who played for iconic women’s brands CLG Red and Dignitas Female. She’s a four-time women’s CS:GO world champion, with first-place finishes at World Electronic Sports events and an IEM Katowice Challenge. Rounding out the roster is Katherine “LunarKats” So, Mirna “athxna” Noureldin, Emily “mle” Peters, and Zoe “Zoe” Servais. Per the official TSM announcement, the new women’s roster will debut in the VCT Game Changers qualifiers.

In the same announcement, TSM owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh expanded on his high hopes for the team’s competitive future. “Cath is a veteran leader who has shown clear dominance in various matches since 2017. Athxna shows real prowess as an in-game leader, and with the raw skill that LunarKats, mle, and Zoe possess, I see huge potential for this team.”

Game Changers was announced in late February as a supplement to the VALORANT Champions Tour. The initiative seeks to create “new opportunities and exposure for marginalized genders within VALORANT.” Just days before TSM announced their women’s roster, CLG Red announced it is jumping into the scene. It announced the signing of former CLG Red CS:GO player Benita “bENITA” Novshadian, and is still flushing out their entire roster.

VCT Game Changers will begin with open qualifiers starting on March 19th.
