The LEC has just begun its 2020 season and during the opening press conference Riot Games announced dates and locations for Spring and Summer Finals. The Spring finals will head to Budapest, Hungary April 25th – 26th and Summer Split Finals will travel to the Malmö Arena in Malmö, Sweden August 29th – 30th.

Spring Finals will be the first time that Hungary hosts a European League final while Budapest has been a growing center for esports in recent years. Beginning in 2018, Budapest began hosting the V4 Future Sports Festival annually. They have had League of Legends tournaments before, so this won’t be their first rodeo. Budapest is clearly committed to becoming an esports city.

Sweden hosted the 2015 Summer Finals, but this will be the first time Malmö hosts the big game. The city hosts numerous events in all kinds of esports, so the infrastructure is already in place. Ann Nyström, Malmö’s destination manager, said: “[Hosting LEC 2020 Summer] is an important step for us in becoming the best gaming city in Europe.”

Three exciting months of European League of Legends action is just getting started, all leading up to the Finals in Budapest. Check back at Hotspawn for more LEC coverage throughout 2020.
