ALGS Championship Schedule and Format

The ALGS Championship begins on July 7th at 1:00 PM EDT / 10:00 AM PDT. The first day plays host to the Group Stage. The 40 teams are split into four groups. Each group will play three six-game series (18 games) in a round robin against every other group. The 20 teams with the highest total score advance to the winners’ bracket, while the bottom 20 fall to the losers’ bracket.

Day two begins with the final round of Group Stage on July 8th at 1:00 PM EDT / 10:00 AM PDT. The Bracket Stage starts at 6:15 PM EDT / 3:15 PM PDT with losers’ bracket round one. Here, the bottom 20 teams from Groups play a single eight-game series. The top 10 advance to losers’ round two, while the bottom 10 are eliminated.

The winners’ bracket kicks off day two of the Bracket Stage on July 9th at 1:00 PM EDT / 10:00 AM PDT. The top 20 teams from Groups will also play an eight-round series. Top 10 move on to the Finals, while bottom 10 will fight for their lives in losers’ round two. Losers’ round two will be the final eight-game series of Bracket Stage, sending the top 10 here to the Finals and the bottom 10 home.

The ALGS Championship Finals are on July 10th at 5:00 PM EDT / 2:00 PM PDT. The final 20 competitors will play a Match Point format series to determine the champion. A team must reach 50 points to become “match point eligible.” Teams will start with bonus points based on their placement in the winners’ bracket. Once a team hits 50, they must win a game to claim the ALGS trophy. There is no limit to the amount of match point eligible teams, or total games played.
