OWL All-Stars Los Angeles 2019 Announced, Voting Open

Gillian Langland

The Overwatch League All-Stars Los Angeles 2019 has been officially announced and we have details – including the leaked Lucio and Mercy skins. This year’s OWL All-Star event will take place on May 15 and 16 at the Blizzard Arena in Burbank, California. This means the Stage Two Playoffs will end on Sunday, May 12 and will see the selected players remain in California for the All-Star Event.  It’s interesting to note the All-Star Weekend last year didn’t have a city in its title which might hint to the event moving cities in the coming years.

The Event

This year there will be three exhibition matches: The All-Star Arcade presented by State Farm, the Talent Takedown presented by T-Mobile, and the Widowmaker 1v1.  The All-Star Arcade will have fans vote for which game mode they’d most like to see the stars play, and there’s a decent list of modes to choose from. Our favorites include Thanks, but No Tanks and Healers Never Die – Sibling Rivalry hits too close to home.

The Talent Takedown will have coaches from both the Atlantic and Pacific Divisions drafting their own teams including casters and analysts. The teams will face off on a three-map set in standard 6v6 fashion (lockout elimination, escort and control). This event will take place on May 15.

The iconic Widowmaker 1v1 will pit top Widowmaker players from both divisions against one another in an elimination bracket. Players will face off 1v1 where only headshots count. The quarterfinals and semifinal matches will be first to seven eliminations whereas the finals will be first to nine. The rules are simple: you can only choose Widowmaker, only headshots, capturing the point is useless for winning BUT it will reveal their opponent after sixty seconds. This event will also take place on May 15.

The fan-favorite All-Star teams of both of the Atlantic and Pacific Divisions will face off on May 16 at 6 p.m. PDT. It will be a “first to four” map series where all players on each team have to compete in at least one map. It’s too early to tell how the teams will perform, but we know this will be a game you won’t want to miss. Voting is now open; fans will vote in the starting line-up for each Division.

This year’s All-Star Legendary Skins feature Pacific Lucio and Atlantic Mercy, and oh boy – did Blizzard not disappoint. Mercy is fashioned in a night theme with half-moon earrings, a blue and purple color-scheme and a night-crown befitting a queen. Pacific Division Lucio is Mercy’s polar opposite wearing gold and white, a fiery sun helmet with flowing golden hair and yellow tattoos all over his body. It’s definitely a set that you won’t want to miss out on.

Look out for more details on the event as we get closer including which game modes will be chosen for the All-Star Arcade Event!
