Overwatch World Cup Bracket Set for Blizzcon

Hotspawn Team

16 nations have already fallen during the group stages of the Overwatch World Cup and only eight remain. Those eight squads will all take to that stage at Blizzcon in November with international supremacy on the line.

Can South Korea win their third consecutive Overwatch World Cup at Blizzcon?

The eight nations left are South Korea, Finland, USA, Canada, China, Australia, France and the United Kingdom. Of course, these countries have routinely found themselves near the top during the short professional Overwatch scene with seven competing in the knockout stages last year as well.

With the teams set, so too is the bracket. The winner of each group was randomly pitted against a second-place team from a different group – teams from the same qualifying region were not allowed to face one another in the quarterfinals.

Here are the matchups set for the quarterfinals at Blizzcon:

The left side of the bracket looks like a total coin toss. All four teams are stacked with Overwatch League talent and plenty of international experience – including Canada, who made it all the way to the finals last year.

On the right side, South Korea is the prohibitive favorite. The Korean team has won the World Cup in both 2016 and 2017 – with a combined score of 8-1 in the finals.

The Overwatch World Cup will continue on November 2 with the quarterfinals and semifinals with the finals and third-place contest taking place on November 3.
