The news comes just days after the initial announcement of the OMEGA League, and brings the total prize pool for all events up to a huge $630,000, close to rivaling that of a DPC Major. Hosted in association with Epic Esports Events and WePlay!, the event will run from August 1st to the 22nd. Qualifiers are set to compete between July 26th and July 30th, with four open qualifier spots open to teams from CN and SEA.

What’s more the SEA region will be thoroughly represented, with teams welcomed from over a dozen countries in the area. These hopeful qualifier squads will head to a stacked tournament featuring the likes of Team Adroit, Reality Rift, EHOME, Immortal, and Aster.Aries.

Commenting on the announcement, Lead Esports Manager at WePlay! Esports Anton “WarLocK” Tokarev stated that: “We announced OMEGA League last week, and it included both European and American regions. Today we are happy to report that the players from China and SEA will also be a part of this event. With the remaining two competitive regions joining the fray, OMEGA League becomes truly global.”

Mark Averbukh, an Epic Esports Events representative added that: “As we mentioned, we want to make this August unforgettable for all Dota 2 fans. And we just can’t imagine any International without one of the strongest regions! Together with WePlay! Esports, we got the best teams from three biggest parts of the world to bring you even more breathtaking emotions!”

The format of the event will see teams compete in best-of-three matches, with two groups making up the opening stage of the event. From there the top three teams from each group will move onto the playoffs, with the fourth and fifth place entering a “Play-in Stage” to escape elimination. The Grand Finals will be best-of-five.
