On January 20, Major League Soccer (MLS) club Montreal Impact announced that their partnership with the Bank of Montreal (BMO) will now include their esports platform.
On January 20, Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact announced that their partnership with the Bank of Montreal will now include their esports platform.
Of the deal, Impact partnership director Rino Folino said in a press release, “We are proud that our presenting partner has decided to also associate itself with our eSports platform, which is in full growth. We aim to bring this platform to the next level, and the confidence BMO shows towards our eSports initiative demonstrates we are on the right path.”
This will be Impact’s second year competing in the eMLS League series. This is a FIFA league run by Major League Soccer that is an official pre-qualifier for the FIFA eWorld Cup. The eMLS includes three tournaments: the first beginning January 22 in Los Angeles, the second in February in Dallas and the third – the eMLS Cup – in March at PAX East, in Boston.
Last year, Montreal Impact player Lyes “LyesMTL” Ould-Ramoul reached the final of the eMLS Cup and earned a spot in the Global Series Playoffs.

In October 2018, BMO and Montreal Impact renewed their pre-existing seven-year partnership with a new sponsorship worth for an undisclosed amount of money. This expansion to Impact’s esports initiative underlines the significance of esports as part of the club’s trajectory.
