What are boons in Fortnite? If you’re jumping in at any point in Chapter 6, this feature has been a deciding part of your loadout. While they started a little weaker, they’ve come on to become one of the most powerful parts of your loadout. They can be a bit of a tricky element though.

The old Augment system let you clearly see what you were picking. With Fortnite Boons, you essentially just grab what you can and might not get a free second to read the lengthier description in the inventory screen. The current Fortnite boons are some of the best items in the game though.
What are Boons in Fortnite and which are the best ones?
Boons in Fortnite are a new feature and category of loot added in Chapter 6. Refined as we went on, through to Chapter 6 Season 4 which has some great Boons. They are similar to Augments. It’s a special ability or property which is applied to players. You don’t have to use an item or anything like that, it’s an effect that just happens to you automatically.
These are provided to players from loot locations. At the start of Chapter 6 it was just for returning sprites to their homes at the shrine. But in current seasons they are available in more places. The Boons have varying effects, from giving you the next storm circle ahead of other players, to just speeding you up.

The Boons can be a fun bonus in games. In some seasons they’ve levelled up as you progress too. Getting more powerful the further in the rank system you get. They’ve been an okay alternative to Augments, but arguably unnecessarily complicated. Needing to be looted, then upgraded using an entirely separate system rather than just having their own effect. The current boons might be worth grinding for though.
The current Fortnite Boons could be our last batch! When the Fortnite season ends, there is a new Chapter which could mean an entirely different set of mechanics will take over Battle Royale. But what are boons in Fortnite right now? At the moment, there are some fun Fortnite boons in the game still. These are the ones available right now:
That’s the current batch! The Super Soldier is the most interesting one, since it levels up. it’s one of those mechanics which just lets you snowball. If a player reaches S+, they’re already playing well. With tons of kills. Then they can get a huge benefit like unlimited stamina to get even more kills!

Where can you get boons in Fortnite? This is the area which has had the most change. We began with just getting them in shrines. Then, they started coming from other rare loot locations. Now we get them in pods that crash from the sky every few kills! This is where you can find boons in Fortnite:
By the end of the game, players tend to snowball their way to having all of them. It’s not a mechanic which rewards underperforming players. It is improved from the past though, where players would drop them on death. Instead, the Fortnite boons can’t be dropped. You just gradually collect them.

Some of them are substantially better than others. The storm forecast in particular is really useful. It’s a feature that players use to fight over at broadcast towers, now it just gets given randomly. It’s always worth seeking boons out since they’re largely all helpful. Since they don’t take up an inventory slot either, there’s no downside to picking them up. They aren’t like Mythics or Medallions that the best Fortnite players drop on specifically, but the Fortnite boons are a key part of the season.
