Fortnite Shock N Awesome Patch Notes Released Early

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 begins in just a day now! Ahead of the full release of the Fortnite Shock N Awesome update, Epic has released the patch notes! Or at least the bigger details that make up Epic’s official patch notes.

We might still have to wait a day to find out exactly what’s been vaulted in Fortnite, but we already have a look at the new content. This is everything that’s coming in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 – All Changes

Map Changes

How has the Fortnite map changed this season? There is a bunch of new POIs, themed around the O.X.R and alien bugs that have invaded the island. The map changes seem to be concentrated over a span of POIs. Closer to the biome changes to the map we sometimes see than spreading the POIs out. It could mean a lot of the best landing spots are concentrated in a small area again. These are the new locations on the map:

The Hive

The Hive is the new base for the bugs. It’s where they’re concentrated. You can expect quite a bit of trouble here, even if there’s no other human players kicking around.

O.X.R HQ

While the bugs on the map have a base, so do the faction set up to fight them. O.X.R HQ is here too. It includes an armory where you can buy items with gold. Kind of like the Black Markets we saw a few Fortnite seasons ago. There’s quite a few Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 mechanics to get great loot though.

Ranger’s Ruin

Ranger’s Ruin is a former base of the O.X.R that’s been taken over by bugs. It’s supposed to be a weapons lab. Which will likely mean some unique loot for Fortnite Shock N Awesome.

Gameplay Changes in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4

Bugs

The current Fortnite Shock N Awesome season has a theme of a bug invasion. Obviously, there’s going to be a few bugs.

These are NPC enemies you’ll have to fight on the island. They come in a few types:

• Swarmer – Smaller bug that swarms
• Bomber – Slightly bigger, heavier attacks
• Queen – Large bugs, fewer on the map. They’re found among other bugs and burrow under the ground.

O.X.R Rank and Chests

Another new feature is the O.X.R Rank. This is replacing the current Superhero rank and works similarly. You start at C, and earn extra points for it as you level up. Once you get higher, you’ll get access to special loot locations and a boon. A-Rank players can go into bunkers which have exotic weapons.

This means the Chapter 6 meta of a tiny handful of overpowered weapons tied to a separate objective is sticking around. While Mythics weren’t anything new, attaching them to the rank incentivizes players to just play Fortnite as a single player game for the opening storm circles, or fall behind and lack the rank to get competitive loot. It definitely spreads the action out though.

Mythics would concentrate the rush for good loot off spawn. But with these objectives, like last season’s Spires, this might move some of the clashes later in the game. Hopefully, it’s a bit better balanced in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 than the old Black Markets were.

At the higher end of the O.X.R rank, you’ll get Mythics, Exotics, and Boons.

New Weapons

A bunch of new weapons themed around the Fortnite Shock N Awesome season have been revealed early! We’ll have to wait to test them and figure out which are the best Fortnite weapons, but these are the guns:

• Bug Blaster – Plasma weapon which can be charged up for a bigger shot.
• Roly Poly – Transformation item, coming later in the season. Lets you roll around the map.

• Sweeper Shotgun
• O.X.R Rifle
• Wrecker Revolver
• Swarmstrike Rocket Launcher
• Leadspitter 3000 Mini-Gun
• Blade Blaster – Power Rangers Collab Item

It looks like we’re getting replacements for quite a lot of the old favorite guns from this Chapter. With new shotguns, rocket launcher and minigun coming for Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4.

New Exotics and Mythics

• Eradicator O.X.R – A marksman rifle that deals more damage on successive hits
• Double Trouble – Double Pump shotgun, no delay for switching between them
• Shock N Slow Shockwave Launcher – A new version of the Shockwave Launcher that slows players it hits.
• Marksman Wrecker Revolver – Higher fire rate and headshot multiplier
• Exotic Slap Berry Fizz – Flowberry Fizz which gives slap effect

New Boons in Fortnite Shock N Awesome

• Agile Aiming – Less recoil and spread when ADSing
• Extended Magazine Boon – Bigger clip for weapons
• Storm Forecast Boon – See next storm circle

New Medallions in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4

For the last two Chapters now, we’ve had medallions in each of the Fortnite seasons. There’s another batch this time around too. This time they’re coming from the Queen bugs who are on the map. They each drop a Mythic weapon and a specific medallion. These are the new ones:

• Surge Medallion – The Hive one. Drops the Enhanced Wrecker Revolver and a medallion which increased movement speed
• Springleg Medallion – Ranger’s Ruin, a Mythic Tac Shotgun and medallion which gives double jump and no fall damage
• Carapace Medallion – Demon’s Domain, Mythic O.X.R AR, and medallion that gives siphon. 50 health when you kill an opponent and 3 shield per second up to 50.

The new medallions seem like a fun mix. A couple of them are likely going to be impactful at the FNCS Global Championship in September! It does seem the rift in island is gone, or at least it no longer gives out a medallion.

New Vehicles

One area that’s getting more change than we’ve seen in a while is the vehicles. We’re finally getting Choppers back in Fortnite Shock N Awesome. The Hammerhead Choppa is a new version that has a cannon built in.

New Battle Pass

The Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 4 Battle Pass has had a lot of leaks, but we’ve just seen the full reveal now! These are the new skins:

• UNSC Spartan
• Yoo-mi
• Agent Patch
• Battle Gamer Mae
• Lt. Ripp Slade
• Onyx Winter
• Green Ranger
• Dino Megazord – Bonus Skin

The UNSC Spartan skin is being given out a bit differently this time. Players get it on launch if they have the premium Battle Pass. However, everyone who gets to level 100 will also get it for free too.
