Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks have gotten a big more substantial this week. As well as those early leaks we’ve seen already, Epic has confirmed a number of new features and plans which are in line for the next season. While we’ve seen the Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks since the end of the last Chapter, there seems to have been big changes in what’s coming next.

We recently learned the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 release date was getting pushed back by two weeks. Which has meant C7 S1 has turned into one of the longest Fortnite seasons in years. With only seasons that were the most effected by COVID running longer. It’s also not really been a huge hit. With esports on an inexplicable break and the meta getting stale months ago. It’s left Epic making big promises about what’s coming next.
It seems Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is having a bit of a rethink. With a massive swerve coming from what we saw in Chapter 7 Season 1. That’s along with persistent rumours that the Chapter 7 map won’t last as long as previous islands. This is what we’ve learned in the recent Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks:

The Fortnite loot pool is getting a major re-think with the launch of Chapter 7 Season 2. While we normally get seasonal changes, it’s usually only new Chapters that completely redo the loot pool. This year, it seems Chapter 7 Season 2 will swap everything out too. We’ll probably still have core items like the Pump and the Tac. But in new forms. The best Fortnite weapons will look completely different.
In Chapter 7 Season 1, movement items have been one of the most controversial parts of patches. Basically, Shockwaves got removed after years in the loot pool. There was a lengthy argument about who was to blame for the removal since it appeared the complaints of Fortnite streamers were getting addressed immediately, even if it was to the detriment of most normal players.
Fortnite decided for a month or so, if you had to rotate you should get clipped and not be able to do anything about it. It was an unfun walking simulator meta that scared a lot of players off.
New movement items in the Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks should mean we’ll be getting a ton of extra items for mobility. All new too, so likely different feeling mobility than the shockwaves. Although, the argument about if players should be able to escape a bad position hasn’t really calmed down this season. it might be difficult to please everyone in this department.
Multiple new movement items have been promised as part of Chapter 7 Season 2. This includes a new form of team movement, allowing whole squads to rotate together. That’s something that could mean big changes for the next FNCS too.

For quite a while, the trajectory of Fortnite was that the game increasingly wanted you to do other objectives throughout Battle Royale, and not focus on the core experience. This trend got reversed with Chapter 7 Season .1
We had a season launch without extra mid-game objectives, like broadcast towers of vaults. Even the way to get Mythics was heavily reduced in importance. Gameplay got back to a more basic loop of fight other guys and position for the next storm circle.
Although, it wasn’t quite the return to form players expected. This was around the same time the matchmaking for the game was made considerably different. It made the gameplay loop frustrating for more casual players. There’s supposedly return to complexity in gameplay with mid-game objectives for the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 release date.

The current loot pool of Fortnite weapons is very stripped back. there isn’t much creativity or wacky items in there. These are supposedly coming back, but we don’t have too many more clues or specifics there. With wacky items back in the loot pool and more fun ways to play in the next Fortnite season.
Something to replace surfing is coming in the very start of a game. The title introduced surfing only this season. This was instead of the Battle Bus, where players would surf then be launched at the island. it was a fairly shallow mechanic that really just meant half your games launched you at a single POI each time and you had no choice in the matter.
Hopefully, whatever new feature is coming instead of surfing, brings back player choice in their landing spot.

The next new part of the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 leaks is the XP. This is getting a new feature. We don’t know how it’ll work though. The XP grind has gotten pretty bad this season. Sine it’s so much longer than normal, we’ve had less XP or everything. Even the best XP maps have gotten worse, with the trick to sustain a button input getting fixed.
have gotten worse, with the trick to sustain a button input getting fixed.
The XP feature should help the grind a little bit. But we won’t find out exactly how for a while yet.
The Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 release date is still scheduled for March. it’s still a while to go. We’re not really at the finish line for this season’s end date just yet. These are some big promises for what’s next, hopefully the actual season can deliver on them.
