Complexity announced their new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster. The team’s core will consist of Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, Justin “FaNg” Coakley, Ricky “floppy” Kemery, and coach Tiaan “T.c.” Coertzen, who formerly played under Extra Salt. Michael “Grim” Wince from Team Liquid and Payton “junior” Johnson from FURIA Esports will complete the team.

The Fall of the Juggernaut

Complexity’s former CS:GO roster, colloquially known as the Juggernaut, had many ups and downs during their two years with the organization. Their crowning achievement was a first-place finish at the BLAST Premiere Spring 2020 European Finals. As a result, Complexity peaked at rank five worldwide by HLTV afterwards.

However, 2021 was not nearly as kind to the Juggernaut. The team lost young talent Owen “oBo” Schlatter heading into the new year. Despite finding a good replacement in Justin “jks” Savage, the team struggled to find any results. Halfway through the year, Complexity benched William “RUSH” Wierzba and replaced coach Jamie “keita” Hall. After their rehabilitation attempts fell short, the rest of the team was released.

The New Generation

Complexity’s new roster is full of experienced players who have shown promise in the past and young talent alike. Grim and junior were previously scouted to play for tier one CS:GO organizations based on their potential as players.  Floppy and JT were part of a rising ATK core that was signed by Cloud9 in 2020. Finally, FaNg is a young up-and-comer who worked his way through the North American scene before being picked up by Extra Salt at the start of 2021.

“Complexity has been embedded in North American Counter-Strike since 2003,” said Jason Lake, CEO at Complexity & Global Head of Esports at GameSquare. “We’re taking the knowledge and experience that we’ve gained over the past 18 years to support the North American region. This group of young, determined players has an unrivaled competitive drive, and we’re proud to have them represent Complexity on the CS:GO circuit.”

The new Complexity CS:GO roster will make their debut at Funspark ULTI on January 19 at 9:00 A.M. ET. Their first opponents are Gambit Esports.
