Rudy Gobert plays center for the Utah Jazz and is a two-time defensive player of the year as well as a three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team selection. Standing over seven feet tall, Gobert’s influence on the court can be seen (quite literally) and felt by those around him. In the press release, Gobert hopes to bring a great influence to the esports scene as he talks about his experience in gaming and his optimism moving forward, “My passion for gaming is well known … I’ve wanted to invest and get more involved in esports for a while.”

Gobert joins other famous celebrities as part of the ReKTGlobal / Rogue team such as DrLupo, Steve Aoki and the band Imagine Dragons among others. The esports organization is having a successful year as they recently announced their London-based team for the upcoming Call of Duty League. London is one of only two teams out of the twelve team league to have announced their starting five roster and the excitement from fans can be seen throughout various social media outlets.

Adding Rudy Gobert as an investor in ReKTGlobal and Rogue is a big step for – not only the organization – but esports overall as the brand looks to continue to expand into various aspect of pop culture at large. With a professional player from the traditional sports world as an investor, the ideas brought to the table can help bridge the gap between the two communities and help propel esports into a more mainstream spotlight.
