Choosing a good gaming monitor can be one of the more difficult decisions for completing your setup. You have to consider the size, refresh rate, response time, resolution, and more. The ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD Curved Gaming Monitor is a great all-around monitor to complete your gaming setup.

This 27” curved monitor displays brilliant colors and prevents screen flickering for the ultimate gaming experience. Typically, consumers pay upwards of $600+ for a curved monitor that performs this well. However, this monitor retails at about $300. The ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD 27″ Curved Gaming Monitor is considered a budget gaming monitor, though it doesn’t sacrifice quality.

First Impression of the ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD 27″ Curved Gaming Monitor

The ViewSonic Curved Gaming Monitor looks really cool when you take it out of the box. It’s a little heavy, but that’s to be expected. This monitor was very easy to set up and the stand is pretty sturdy.

When you turn on the monitor, the color is vivid and beautiful. I’m used to working and playing on a 23” monitor. The extra 4” of display really do make a difference. It took some adjustment on my part.

The monitor’s menu buttons are just beneath the ViewSonic logo and a bit back. From there, you can adjust the different ViewMode display modes. The preset display settings are:

  • Standard
  • FPS Game
  • RTS Game
  • MOBA Game
  • Movie
  • Web
  • Text
  • MAC
  • Mono

The default setting, for some reason, was on FPS. FPS looks great. However, for a lot of RPGs, certain areas of the game are a bit too dark to navigate. I’m not sure why there’s an FPS, RTS, and MOBA setting, but no RPG setting. Luckily, the presets are customizable.

With display adjustments, video games look stunning on this curved screen. Even though it doesn’t say in the Quick Start Guide, the AMD FreeSync seems to be compatible with NVIDIA GPUs.

This monitor is also pretty decent for writers. Going from writing to gaming, to writing can really be a strain on my vision. However, the blue light filter is a life saver for my eyes.

The Dual Integrated Stereo Speakers sound decent–as if they are desktop speakers. Too often integrated speakers have a sort of muffled sound. The ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD speakers are clear. They’re not Bose crisp, but they are clear enough.

Final Thoughts on ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD

The ViewSonic VX2718-2KPC-MHD 27″ Curved Gaming Monitor really does provide an immersive gaming experience for half the cost. Though I’ve only used this monitor for one month, I’m quite satisfied with its performance.
