Spongebob Fortnite Sidekicks Coming for Winterfest

A Spongebob Fortnite collab is coming soon! It has been announced for the next week of the item shop, it’s one of the most anticipated Fortnite collabs. While we might not be getting full Fortnite skins for this one, there are some different items coming for the Spongebob Fortnite crossover.

We’re expecting two different types of Fortnite cosmetics to get introduced for the Spongebob collab. Plus, a Spongebob emote that recrates one of the series’ best-known scenes. There’s going to be skins of some of the most requested characters coming. Along with a car, so there will be some cosmetics visible to everyone in core modes like Battle Royale. It isn’t quite the skins that players might have wanted, but this is a way to get them in without running into the same old “guy in a mech” problem that keeps coming up.

Spongebob Fortnite Collab Coming Soon

According to Fortnite leakers, the Spongebob Fortnite crossover is getting a bit bigger this week. We’ve already had some limited Fortnite content in the game. Mainly it was the Creative maps produced in the past. They let players explore recreated versions of Bikini Bottom, but as Fortnite maps like a Tycoon game and Red V Blue clone.

That collab was nice but it didn’t include any skins or anything like that. A lot of players probably don’t remember that there was a crossover in 2024. Instead, we’re getting a much bigger crossover this time. Those are coming now, as part of Winterfest 2025. There’s going to be a full Spongebob Fortnite collab in the item shop. According to leaker HypeX, there’s a few major items that are coming.

The biggest might be Spongebob and Patrick. These characters are coming as new Sidekicks. They’ll be little critters following you around on the map, not interactable for other players. It does mean we get them in without addressing their size, or allowing them to use realistic guns.

Along with the Fortnite Sidekicks, there’s a new vehicle that’s coming too. A burger car from the Spongebob movie. These are a common part of collabs now. It has meant the end of unique car types in Battle Royale, but players can use these collab items instead. We’re also getting an emote which is based on the Imagination rainbow clip.

Those are the items that are coming. It seems there won’t be Fortnite skins for this collab, although, we are expecting it to arrive soon.

When Does the Spongebob Fortnite Collab Start?

The next Fortnite Spongebob collaboration will be part of the upcoming Winterfest update! We’ll see a few big collabs like Harry Potter, and a Winter Miku. But we’ll also get Spongebob in the same week. In the past, these kinds of collabs were random. We didn’t know when they’d actually drop in the shop, we just had to wait and see if Spongebob Fortnite turned up in the refresh.

However, Epic has been announcing things a bit ahead of time now. We’ve got a confirmed Friday December 19th release date for the Spongebob items. They’ll be in the Item Shop on this changeover. The Fortnite Spongebob items will make a really fun inclusion. It’s great to see the Sidekicks feature being used creatively too. Since this makes it really easy to ignore if you’re not interested.

Sidekicks aren’t visible to other players. They’re basically just something for you. The car will be visible to everyone in Battle Royale though! So, keep an eye out for burger cars on the roads after the Winterfest update.
