A new Fortnite event has begun! It’s the Winterfest Fortnite update, the Holiday event for Battle Royale. We’ve got a ton of new skins, like the Winterfest Miku, but also some gameplay changes and free skins. It isn’t the biggest event for in-game content, but quite a bit will have changed.

Winterfest Starts in New Fortnite Update

The Fortnite Winterfest update tides us over for a few weeks while Epic takes one of a couple of small breaks. There are free skins, and gameplay changes coming though. This is what’s new in the Winterfest Fortnite update:

Every Winterfest, Epic hands out a ton of different free cosmetics. You unwrap them one by one as the days of Winterfest stretch on. This year, there’s two big skins. There’s Glacial Dummy, which you can unwrap once you’ve finished seven presents. Plus, Cheeks, which unlocks after you’ve unwrapped the other thirteen.

Otherwise, there’s quite a bit of content in the other presents. With instruments, back blings, and more for free in the Winterfest Fortnite update.

Game Changes

Along with some free items, there’s minor changes to the game’s meta itself. The biggest might be the new Fortnite weapons. Nothing too huge this year. Just two different items:

  • Blizzard Grenades
  • Snowball Launchers

We get these most years for the Fortnite Winterfest update. But it’s fun to see them back. We’re also seeing some map changes. There’s snow covering most of the map.

When Does Winterfest End?

That’s all of the changes in the latest Fortnite Winterfest update, but how long do you have to play through? The event is supposed to end on January 5th, 2026. So quite a while to test things out. Epic normally takes their winter break over this update, expect some bug fixes can be a bit slower coming out.
