When can we expect the Fortnite DeLorean to arrive? It’s a skin for cars in-game that we’ve been awaiting since the launch of this season. A version of the popular time machine from Back to the Future. While Marty has been in the Battle Pass for a few weeks already, the DeLorean is going to be a paid skin. Coming as part of the Item Shop. It’s arriving alongside an exciting new skin in the Fortnite collab too.

Fortnite DeLorean Comes This Week

The new crossover brings in one of the most iconic cars from cinema. It’s the type of iconic vehicle that first jumped to mind when Epic started doing cars skins. For every skin that’s just a decal of a character, inclusions like the Fortnite DeLorean are here. To show there is some value in buying a car skin. Although, with the current map having much lighter car spawns, it’s a little niche still.

The Fortnite DeLorean will arrive along with the Doc Brown skin. Both as expected to come as part of Winterfest. But the DeLorean is already accessible to some players. Its release actually dates back to a time that Rocket League had a Back to the Future collab, way before it began to align with Fortnite and bring its skins over. Which means a few RL players got a real deal on this skin!

This is how everything works and when you can expect the Fortnite DeLorean to come to Battle Royale:

Fortnite DeLorean Skin Coming

One of the next big collabs to come to the game will be more Fortnite X Back to the future skins. This one has been a key part of Chapter 7, with Marty McFly in the Battle Pass. But we’ve been waiting for two other important pieces, Doc Brown and the Fortnite DeLorean car skin. Both are coming to the item shop soon.

These two items will complete the Fortnite X Back to the Future collab. The DeLorean in particular might be the most exciting part of this collaboration. It’s already got a feature in game with players able to “time travel” at certain points.

This is a little cinematic that Epic has added in. When players use it, their car will vanish to everyone else. before appearing a few feet behind where it vanishes, with a small trail of fire. Matching up with when the car first travels in time in Back to the Future. For players, they travel in a brief vortex before reappearing.

The whole thing adds a bit of Back to the Future to the map. We’ll likely see a lot more of it once the Fortnite DeLorean actually releases though. The car skins work quite simply. Once you get into a vehicle, it’ll transform into your skin. There’s only two types of car on the map now so half of them will turn into the skin.

When is the Fortnite DeLorean Release Date?

That’s what’s coming but when is the Fortnite DeLorean release date? The car skin is part of the Winterfest collabs, which have all had their release dates confirmed. These are coming on December 23rd. They’ll likely be available for a little while, especially with one skin in the Battle Pass.

Although, there is quite a lot coming throughout Winterfest. We’ve got more skins to come after this release, and other collaborations. The Fortnite DeLorean will get a decent bit of focus this week though.

Rocket League’s DeLorean Unlocks the Skin

The Fortnite DeLorean release date isn’t quite that simple. Epic merged cosmetics between Rocket League and Fortnite, meaning players who have it in Rocket League get it in Fortnite! It’s probably better value now, although at the time of the skin’s initial release it wasn’t exactly clear that the game would end up merged like this.

The first version of the DeLorean was originally sold in Rocket League for $1.99… which is pretty cheap compared to Fortnite items. It was also released in 2015! So, a decade ago. Players who were into Rocket League back then are definitely getting their loyalty paid off in Fortnite now. provided they care about car skins in the game.

The current Fortnite season is a little light on cars though. It isn’t exactly Wrecked, which focused on them. Instead, players might have to search for quite a while to track down the Fortnite DeLorean, or any car to transform into it. It’s a less car focused meta this down around.

We’ve even seen the trend extended with the Fortnite mobility hotfix. Which kind of nerfed cars, and even took away other mobility options too. While cars are getting reduced all over the game, Epic is still happy to sell skins. Including ones that previously cost a fraction of the price in Rocket League.
