The Fortnite presents are back for a new season, a whole Winterfest cabin full of them. But there’s been some major changes this season… and not player friendly ones. Instead of the old system, they no longer add up. This year, players will have to login pretty much constantly if they want to get everything. The Fortnite Winterfest presents contain some great free Fortnite skins this year too though.

All Fortnite Presents Explained

Each holiday period, there’s a bunch of different Fortnite items which you’ll get for free. You need to log in, pick a present, and then unwrap it to get the item inside. Plus, you need to do it every day now. You can’t just log in at the end anymore, Epic wants their play time and the Fortnite presents are the bargaining chip to get it.

What’s inside each of the presents this year and how can you make sure you get everything?

The Fortnite Winterfest presents are a bit random each year. There’s a ton of boxes, but it’s not like the digital items really need to be in boxes shaped like them. Making it random what you actually get in-game each time. Unless you know what’s in each of the Fortnite Winterfest presents.

If there’s something specific you want to unlock, you need to go for a specific Fortnite present! Pick the right box and you can predict what you get, from the Fortnite gliders to the lobby tracks. This is what’s in each of them this year:

  • Fire-Born Emote – Small blue present near the tree
  • No Sweat, Snowfish Emote – Yellow small present near tree
  • Warm & Peely Emote – Small present near tree
  • Gift Emote – Small presents near tree
  • Snowman Wrap – Large green box, behind Sgt winter
  • Cheecks Skin – Big green present, white bow
  • Glacial Dummy Skin – Slightly smaller green present white box
  • Winterfest Bow Back Bling – Square blue present, centre of left side of screen
  • Festive Gwinny Backbling – Long red box, yellow bow
  • Winterfest Letter Glider – Long red present near wizard hat
  • Shadowstorm Contrail – Large box, next to Snowman wrap
  • Festive Bat Pickaxe – Red square box, right by the tree
  • Glacial Groove Pickaxe – Smaller present, near Sgt Winter
  • Bard’s Gem Pickaxe – Yellow present, near Sgt Winter
  • Wraped Axe Pickaxe – Yellow square box, far from tree
Battlewood Lobby Music – LP Vinyl shaped present

Of course, the big-ticket items are the skins. While you can find these pretty easily, it’s a bit more complicated than just eating them.

Which Fortnite Presents are the Free Skins This Year?

The Fortnite Winterfest presents are the way to unlock cosmetics and new free Fortnite skins. But the actual outfits aren’t just random presents. Instead, these are locked behind certain requirements. You’ll need to open a number of presents before the skin ones are available.

The first skin unlocks after seven presents are opened up. This is Glacial Dummy. So you can’t open this until it’s a week into Winterfest at least.

The second, Cheeks, unlocks after 13 other presents are open. This means the end of the event really.

That second one will only come out once you’ve opened everything else. Which is probably going to be far into Fortnite Winterfest for a lot of people. However, since the presents have changed this year, it’s a bit more complicated. There’s a good chance some players could miss out on the second free skin if they’re not careful.

Presents No Longer Stack

The Fortnite Winterfest presents used to stack up. If you missed one, you got to open extra Fortnite presents the next day to make up for it. Provided you logged in at one point, you got the full lot. Not anymore. For some reason, Epic has decided that if you miss one now, you miss out forever.

the presents no longer stack. If you don’t check in daily, you’ll lose them. Meaning players will need to log into Fortnite at least fourteen times between now and January 5th. There are enough days to miss some… but you’ll want to get it done as simply as possible.

The Fortnite Winterfest presents are frustrating this year, but if you open the game up a few extra times, it’ll get done. It’s not like it’s locked behind playing a game. But if you miss more than 3 log ins, you might not get the final free skin. It’s basically an extra step to try and mandate more game time out of everyone. If making the XP grind in Fortnite way worse this year wasn’t enough.

Where to Find Fortnite Presents

If you want to claim your Fortnite Winterfest presents in-time, where can you find them in-game? They’re back in their old home, in the Winterfest Cabin. This was ditched briefly, but it’s back this time. The Fortnite presents can be found by scrolling over to that section of the lobby screen. There’s still a nice cabin, and it’s on the map too now.
