Major 3 has begun, with the qualifies underway now the FNCS Divisional Cup has begun. The FNCS Major 3 Divisional Cup 1 played out last night. Some of the best players have already gotten a lead on things, but they ran into some trouble. With the stranger meta for Chapter 6 Season 3, we’re seeing players hot dropping a lot more than normal.
Who’s leading in Fortnite Major 3 Divisional Cup so far?? This is how it has gone now that Chapter 6 Season 3 has stepped up its tournaments.

The FNCS is starting up for the season with its final Major. This is the last chance for players to secure their slot at the Global Championship. First, they have to place highly in these two FNCS Divisional Cups to make it there though. Week 1 begins everything, with Week 2 confirming who got their slot at the Major finals.
This season, the Cups have been cut back significantly. There’s only going to two this time. But, a Trio’s position in the divisions is based on past performance. While it’s shorter, it’s this performance in Major 1 and 2 which is having the biggest impact. While most of the major players have risen up quite early as we expected, there’s been some surprising results. The overpowered landing spots is having a big impact. With some of the best teams losing early dropping on the exact same chest. This is what happened in our opening to the FNCS Divisional Cup:
Tuning into the FNCS Divisional Cups at the start of the tournament, we saw a lot of panic over Peterbot, Ritual, and Cold’s performance. The reigning FNCS champs. After Peterbot skipped a Performance Evaluation the day before, there was a lot of eyes on this Cup. He got off to a rough start too, initially sitting in 80th.

Peterbot’s Trio has spent some early results going directly against other top players, competing for one chest. The top of Demon’s Domain this season features a guaranteed Rare Chest. Below, is a boss which drops a fantastic medallion. It’s one of the best landing spots, but that makes it competitive. Since a Rare Chest gives high quality loot straight away, the team to grab the chest gets a strong advantage. Both to win the POI and get the medallion, and for the game afterwards.
Hotdropping the exact same chest as some of the other top Trios make these early games a 50/50. The exact same problem we saw in early events like the content creator hosted Cash Cup.
This was just an early issue though. Once the games really got started, they got into a fantastic groove. With more sessions still to play, they’re looking much stronger.

Once Peterbot’s trio managed to get some decent landings, they came alive. We saw Ritual clutch up multiple times, fantastic given the player was called the weak link earlier in the Chapter. One thing that’s making a difference is the current exotic weapons. One of the best Fortnite guns is only available in one specific way.
You have to take down a boss that appears in a random spot. Then, it drops one of a handful of exotics. There’s no way to guarantee you get the Frostfire Shotgun. Which makes a big change from this trio’s normal strategies of heading directly to the top loot locations and snatching up the best guns. Now there’s so much randomness, it’s taking more searching. But in the late game, they’ve often got a stacked loadout.
At the end of that session, they were in second with 1 Victory Royale. But, a staggering 137 kills. In first though, was a different Trio.

The Major 3 Divisional Cup are a nice belweather of which teams are exceling in the season’s new meta. Joji, oSydd, and Donniee are taking a step up this season.
This Trio came in first in the Divisional Cup’s second session. With a huge 4 Victory Royales. The team could have benefited from the wider lobbies we see in these events, with more Trios in lobbies that aren’t up to finals quality. But this is still a huge result.
At the last Major, Joji, Doniee, and Kraez came in 11th. A good performance, but not good enough to make the LAN. With oSydd now on the team, it’s looking like there’ll be in a strong position this season. They could be one to watch in Chapter 6 Season 3. There’s still more sessions left, but they’ve had an intresting run in the FNCS Divisional Cup so far.
