Fortnite’s new season has a ton of new items which will be interesting to use and see in competitive, but one of the strangest are the Krypto Treats. What does the Krypto Treats do in Fortnite exactly? When you see one come out of a chest or get dropped, it might be pretty exciting to stumble on a mythic at first! Only to then realise what you’ve actually got is two dog treats. How can you use them?

Rather than being a treat for the companion feature expected to arrive later in the Chapter, the Krypto Treat in Fortnite are an explosive weapon! On the surface, it’s a dog treat you use to bring a dog into the game for a second. However, that’s really all just visual flair for what’s essentially the current version of the grenade in the Fortnite C6 S3 loot pool. This is how the Krypto Treat works in Fortnite:

What Does the Krypto Treat do in Fortnite?

In the basic loot pool this season, the Krypto Treat is a Mythic level item you’ll find much more often than the others. It’s a weapon which looks like a simple bone treat. To use it, you’ll need to consider it more of a marker for an explosion though.

Once you have a Krypto Treat, you can throw it using the fire button like a grenade. Where the Krypto Treat hits in Fortnite, a super dog will come bounding down from the sky and hit like an air strike. Dealing damage to players and builds. It’s essentially an explosive weapon. The whole process is very quick. So, while there is a dog theme to consider, it’s little more than an animation. In the sense of Fortnite’s meta in C6 S3, this is an explosive item!

Where Can You Find Them?

That’s the answer to what does the Krypto Treat do in Fortnite, but there quite easy to find! Despite being new Mythic weapons for C6 S3, there easy to find. You can get them from chests and other loot locations. They’re not the most common item but they do drop quite a bit. Most players will stumble on a few stacks over the course of a game.

One thing to keep in mind is that they drop in small stacks. You only get two. So, unless you’re looting a lot and dedicating a lot of your inventory slots over, it probably won’t be something you always carry. It’s not clear if they’ll be in Fortnite esports tournaments, but we’ll have to see how they affect gameplay first.

What Are the Krypto Treats From?

The Fortnite Krypto Treats are a fun item, but why is a dive-bombing dog part of the loot pool this season? It’s to do with the upcoming skins, which is already released in the Battle Bundle, Superman. It is his dog.

Krypto’s particular strength when you throw one of his favorite snacks out is a reflection of his super powers! Krypto is a Kryptonian dog which gives him certain abilities just like superman. The dog isn’t controllable in Fortnite, but using the Krypto Treats you can still weapononize him to try and blow up your enemies.
