With the new FN season, there’s a whole new pass to look through, but Epic’s decided to add yet more complexity to the whole system with the Fortnite Battle Bundle. It’s a new feature that lets players buy early access to a skin. Not only do you need to get the Battle Pass, but you also need to buy the Fortnite Battle Bundle if you want the skins as soon as you can get them. What’s more, it’s broken.

Fortnite Battle Bundle is Giving Out Chapter 2 Exclusive Cosmetics

Rather than just giving early access to future cosmetics like its supposed to, the Fortnite Battle Bundle is currently handing out a Chapter 2 exclusive cosmetic that’s not supposed to ever come back. Now in Chapter 6 Season 3, there’s extra ways of buying the Battle Pass. The offending item will probably get fixed, but are old holders going to get a new style and is the Fortnite Battle Bundle a better deal than it looks?

Buy Future Battle Pass Updates with the Fortnite Battle Bundle

Since it first launched, Fortnite has been finding new ways to monetize. It’s a free to play game, but one that has a player count rivalling platforms in its worst seasons, any type of monetization seems like a licence to print money. Which might be why, increasingly, Epic is finding new ways to bundle up the Battle Pass. Which is easily the most popular paid item. The most recent is the Fortnite Battle Bundle.

This is a new feature that’s been introduced with Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3. As with any other season, the Battle Pass has a ton of skins which you unlock gradually. However, bonus rewards and the Secret or Bonus Skin, these take longer.

The Bonus Skin is an extra page, often a big ticket collab or creative take on a popular character. This season it’s Superman, who was already featured in a Chapter 2 Battle Pass but has a new and completely separate look. This Bonus skin will unlock for all BP holders July 11th, mid-season. However, players can get it early. By purchasing the Fortnite Battle Bundle. Which is a new label for a feature that has been in the game a long time, buying levels.

New Battle Bundle Explained

The Fortnite Battle Bundle is essentially the same in function as the old buy levels. You hand over some V-Bucks, you get auto levelled up by 25. It beats grinding XP. Although, it seems to be a function mainly used by content creators looking to use the Level 100 skin. Since it’s easy enough to grind XP, it isn’t the best deal for most people. Epic seems to be trying to change that with the new Fortnite Battle Bundle, giving it an extra feature.

Now players can get the bonus skin early! From the launch of the season, players have been able to unlock Superman by purchasing these levels.

Just like moving Crew to only award the Pass for a limited period and moving the price up 50 V-Bucks, it seems Fortnite is trying to monetize a little harder once again. It’s especially causing problems since the Fortnite Battle Bundle isn’t working right. It’s giving out years old items that shouldn’t ever come back.

With this new way of charging for cosmetics, loads of players are now purchasing levels! But they’re getting more than they bargained for. Instead of the current back bling matching the new Superman DC Fortnite skin, they’ve been getting the old one.

This old back bling was part of the Chapter 2 Battle Pass, listed and marketed as something that can never come back. Current skins can go to the Item Shop after a year and a half, but old ones should be gone forever. With the Fortnite Battle Bundle doing this though, loads of new players are getting that old skin instead.

What will be done? There are a few ways we’ve seen these kinds of bugs and errors handled in the past. Often, Epic hands out a new version exclusive to the older holders to compensate for losing exclusivity. However, this is usually for Item Shop issues. This seems to be a bug born from having two near identical Superman sets both be timed exclusives! It’ll likely get fixed with it swapped out for the correct item. It does raise the question of if this is actually ready or not though.

The Fortnite Battle Bundle is already causing problems. Within an update or two though, it’ll probably be fixed though. Eventually this will end and just be another way of putting a bit more money into the Battle Pass. Like Crew or buying levels before it, it’ll be a feature some players go for and most just ignore. Despite the blunder with an old item, it doesn’t effect gameplay, you don’t get access to the Superman items just by purchasing the Battle Bundle.
