Some players love to show off that they have rare skins. Between showing that you’ve been playing a while, or just showcasing a kind of a commitment, there’s benefits to having the rare skins in Fortnite.
There are certain skins which always turn heads in lobbies. They might not pop up in Fortnite esports tournaments too much, but the rarest Fortnite skins are iconic in a lot of cases.
Between the Battle Pass, other promotions, and the item shop, we’re spoilt for choice. But these are the rarest skins in Fortnite right now:

The Reaper was the final skin of Fortnite Season 3 Chapter 1, at the end of the Battle Pass. Although, it is better known as John Wick, at least originally. The skin had a resemblance to the character, so players used this as a nickname until we got an official John Wick.
The Reaper skin has remained iconic in the Fortnite seasons since, but it can’t come back since it’s from an old Battle Pass.

This one is more recent. It’s a fully gold Peely. From Chapter 2 Season 2. What makes it rare isn’t the base skin, but the unlockable Super style.
Back when “secrets” in the Battle Pass where at least partially a secret.
Players gradually turned an extra style of Peely solid gold as they overleveled. But to get fully gold Peely, you had to go beyond the normal level 200. Making this one of the rarest Fortnite skins. A lot of players didn’t even realize unlocking him was an option.

Another Battle Pass skin, Omega is from Season 4 but the fully evolved version still counts as one of the rarest. Players really had to grind things out to unlock all the lights. It’s a small cosmetic difference. But one that separates a skin from being OG, or one of the rarest Fortnite skins.

Another of the rarest Fortnite skins is the original Loki skin. It might be a Marvel collab skin. But it also began Fortnite Crew! This has meant its locked in a bundle from years ago, and just never seems to come back. Loki isn’t technically exclusive though it can come back. It just hasn’t.

Another skin which is probably higher on the wanted list than the rarest Fortnite skins is Travis Scott. As an artist collab in Fortnite, this was a very popular skin and a lot of older players probably have it sat in their lockers. However, it pretty much can’t come back.
This skin hasn’t appeared in ages. At first, players thought it was because of the disaster at one of his concerts. Time has passed though and we’ve had confirmation that it’s actually because the artist won’t allow the return. The Fortnite skin no longer lines up with their plans, so it’s become one of the rarest Fortnite skins.

Astro Jack is the second of the Travis Scott skins! This one is pretty much rare for the same reason. It’s got a different design, but is just as tied to the artist. Like Travis Scott, it’s become much rarer other time. This was a less popular skin on first release, so it’s probably a little rarer than the other skin.

The Royale Bomber is quite similar to Double Helix. It’s another skin which was available with a console. This time, it was the PlayStation. The Royale bomber isn’t the most interesting skin, it’s quite a generic military design. But it’s one of the older Fortnite skins so they do tend to be plainer.

Rue is a Fortnite skin which can come back at any time. It’s an item shop skin, it’s not got any exclusivity. But it hasn’t. it has been gone so long it’s one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
The reason for Rue not coming back isn’t so complicated, you can probably tell by looking at her. A lot of players think this skin carries connotations of Nazis. The skin can’t come back since half the player base looks at it and thinks SS. It’s pretty much blacklisted and can’t come back. Fortnite streamers have even clarified you can’t pick it for a locker bundle either, it’s entirely banned it seems.

A lot of the rarest Fortnite skins got that way by being released in a limited-time way. Honor Guard was a skin which you unlocked after buying the Honor View 20 phone. You had to buy an entire smartphone to get it. So, it’s one of the most expensive skins, and one of the rarest Fortnite skins. It’s only available second-hand now, so it isn’t getting anything but rarer.
While Honor Guard is rare, the model itself has been reused loads. There’s quite a few skins which look extremely close and are easy to get.

Along with being one of the most valuable Fortnite skins, Double Helix has become quite rare. It’s a skin that was released with a Nintendo Switch bundle. It’s now discontinued, so players won’t be able to get it anymore. There is still the option to buy the code second-hand, but it’s only becoming rarer over time.

Shaman is one of the rarest Fortnite skins that could theoretically come back to the item shop at any point! But for some reason, it hasn’t.
Shaman appeared in 2019. It was an item shop skin, available a few times over the course of 2019. But it hasn’t returned since. For some reason Epic’s decided it shouldn’t be in the game anymore. It can come back in the future though.

Tart Tycoon is one of the most unique entries in the rarest Fortnite skins. It was a prize in a tournament.
Normally, Fortnite tournaments set a high level for getting the free skin. It was lower for Bad Apple though. You didn’t need to be one of the best Fortnite players, you just had to cross a low points threshold. The whole event was a last-minute thing after Epic’s fallout with Apple, and the skin has never been released in another way though. It’s a rare Fortnite skins and since it can’t come back, will only get rarer.

Rogue Agent is one of the rarest Fortnite skins! It was part of a very old starter pack. These are the intro packs that Epic releases once a season. A way to try and tempt players into switching from a free player to a paid one. They come with a skin, and a small batch of V-Bucks to use in the shop. This was the first starter pack.
While not entirely exclusive, Epic hasn’t brought back Starter Packs. So Rogue Agent has become one of the rarest skins since it hasn’t been back since 2018. As the first starter pack, it stands to reason it would be the rarest.

Reflex is a bit of a unique case. If it kept to its original plan, this would be a clear candidate for the rarest Fortnite skin. Reflex was available as a free bonus when buying a Nvidia GeForce graphics card. A pretty high price for a Fortnite skin. It was accidentally brought to be the item shop since though, so it’s a bit less rare than it could have been.

World Warrior is a skin which was at one point quite common. It was the World Cup tie in skin. Just a default wearing a World Cup outfit. However, it hasn’t been back in the item shop since the World Cup! That’s made it one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
The World Cup has a lasting legacy in Fortnite. Between making some pros the highest earning Fortnite players, and skins like this still being remembered.

The Fortnite Battle Pass prior to Chapter 5 included a ton of skins, none of which could ever come back to the item shop! Now that Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper came back (for a long time too, so they’re no longer in the rarest Fortnite skins), we have to look at the next Battle Pass. Out of these, Black Knight came earlier and at tier 100! Which should make it the rarest Fortnite skins from these early Passes.
In the early days, fewer players were grinding XP up to 100 and fewer were purchasing the pass. It’s still a skin that a lot of older players have access to though. He was also the first Legendary tier outfit, which is fitting.

Galaxy was one of the biggest deals out of all Fortnite skins when it was first added! This was a free skin that came with purchasing certain Samsung Galaxy phones or tablets. However, it wasn’t available any other way. Since it only came with a single phone, that was quickly replaced, Galaxy became very rare. The skin has had follow ups since with more Galaxy effects, but the original is now pretty rare.

This one is undoubtably one of the rarest Fortnite skins, owned by just a handful of players. Problem is, it never got a real release.
There’s quite a few unreleased Fortnite skins, but this one was actually given out to content creators, since Epic intended to bring it to the Item Shop within days. They then decided it was too similar to an old referee skin, and abandoned the idea. But the content creators got to keep the skin! Meaning a very small handful of players have access to this. Making it the rarest Fortnite skins out there.

Renegade Raider used to be the rarest skin in Fortnite, since it came from Chapter 1 Season 1. Basically, before the Fortnite seasons became anything we recognize today. Players even had to earn loads of XP to earn the right to buy it! But, it didn’t stay in Chapter 1.
When Fortnite OG came back, Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper both came back to the shop. Anyone could buy it. It was back for weeks too, so it’s no longer rare. The OG style is! But that’s not as big of an accomplishment as the skin itself used to be.
The rarest skin in Fortnite is a bit more debateable now. Especially since Epic started bringing back lapsed skins, like the SF Fortnite outfits, quite frequently. But at the moment, any of these top 5 rarest skins in Fortnite as good candidates! Galaxy is pretty rare, the referee skin only held by a few streamers is probably the rarest though.

OG Peely, or the original Peely, was a Battle Pass skin. Despite being a very popular pick for players, Peely is locked away back in Chapter 1. They’re on the rarer side compared to Item Shop skins, which can always come back. Or later Battle Pass skins, that more players have access to.
The rarest Fortnite skins aren’t static, they can change quite a bit. These are some skins which have been relegated from the Fortnite rarest skins in more recent seasons.

So, before Arcane Jinx but basically the same thing… is Arcane Vi. It’s the other skin. There isn’t a major difference in the reasoning behind this being one of the rarest Fortnite skins and Jinx. Both were locked out by the IP owners.
However, this season they were brought back! Despite being said to be never coming back, Aracane skins came back. They’re no longer that rare. But worth keeping in mind, any Item Shop skin can probably come back eventually.
Jinx isn’t one of skins typically thought of as super rare. It was a pretty popular collab which sold a lot of copies. But in the time since, it has gotten a bit more complicated. Arcane Jinx has since been back to the item shop though. It was rare in a brief period of time, but not so much anymore.
