Fortnite has thousands and thousands of skins, which means they can’t all come back to the item shop regularly. For every skin that shows up once a month, there’s ten which disappear for months, sometimes even years. Getting some of the rarest Fortnite skins can be one of the biggest flexes!

Some players love to show off that they have rare skins. Between showing that you’ve been playing a while, or just showcasing a kind of a commitment, there’s benefits to having the rare skins in Fortnite. There are certain skins which always turn heads in lobbies. They might not pop up in Fortnite tournaments too much, but the rarest Fortnite skins are iconic in a lot of cases. Between the Battle Pass, other promotions, and the item shop, we’re spoilt for choice. But these are the rarest skins in Fortnite right now:
Rarest Fortnite Skins – Top 10
10. Honor Guard

A lot of the rarest Fortnite skins got that way by being released in a limited-time way. Honor Guard was a skin which you unlocked after buying the Honor View 20 phone. You had to buy an entire smartphone to get it. So, it’s one of the most expensive skins, and one of the rarest Fortnite skins. It’s only available second-hand now, so it isn’t getting anything but rarer.
While Honor Guard is rare, the model itself has been reused loads. There’s quite a few skins which look extremely close and are easy to get.
9. Double Helix

Along with being one of the most valuable Fortnite skins, Double Helix has become quite rare. It’s a skin that was released with a Nintendo Switch bundle. It’s now discontinued, so players won’t be able to get it anymore. There is still the option to buy the code second-hand, but it’s only becoming rarer over time.
8. Shaman

Shaman is one of the rarest Fortnite skins that could theoretically come back to the item shop at any point! But for some reason, it hasn’t.
Shaman appeared in 2019. It was an item shop skin, available a few times over the course of 2019. But it hasn’t returned since. For some reason Epic’s decided it shouldn’t be in the game anymore. It can come back in the future though.
7. Tart Tycoon

Tart Tycoon is one of the most unique entries in the rarest Fortnite skins. It was a prize in a tournament.
Normally, Fortnite tournaments set a high level for getting the free skin. It was lower for Bad Apple though. You didn’t need to be one of the best Fortnite players, you just had to cross a low points threshold. The whole event was a last-minute thing after Epic’s fallout with Apple, and the skin has never been released in another way though. It’s a rare Fortnite skins and since it can’t come back, will only get rarer.
6. Rogue Agent

Rogue Agent is one of the rarest Fortnite skins! It was part of a very old starter pack. These are the intro packs that Epic releases once a season. A way to try and tempt players into switching from a free player to a paid one. They come with a skin, and a small batch of V-Bucks to use in the shop. This was the first starter pack.
While not entirely exclusive, Epic hasn’t brought back Starter Packs. So Rogue Agent has become one of the rarest skins since it hasn’t been back since 2018.
5. Reflex

Reflex is a bit of a unique case. If it kept to its original plan, this would be a clear candidate for the rarest Fortnite skin. Reflex was available as a free bonus when buying a Nvidia GeForce graphics card. A pretty high price for a Fortnite skin. It was accidentally brought to be the item shop since though, so it’s a bit less rare than it could have been.
4. World Warrior

World Warrior is a skin which was at one point quite common. It was the World Cup tie in skin. Just a default wearing a World Cup outfit. However, it hasn’t been back in the item shop since the World Cup! That’s made it one of the rarest Fortnite skins.
The World Cup has a lasting legacy in Fortnite. Between making some pros the highest earning Fortnite players, and skins like this still being remembered.
3. Black Knight

The Fortnite Battle Pass prior to Chapter 5 included a ton of skins, none of which could ever come back to the item shop! Now that Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper came back (for a long time too, so they’re no longer in the rarest Fortnite skins), we have to look at the next Battle Pass. Out of these, Black Knight came earlier and at tier 100! Which should make it the rarest Fortnite skins from these early Passes.
In the early days, fewer players were grinding XP up to 100 and fewer were purchasing the pass. It’s still a skin that a lot of older players have access to though. He was also the first Legendary tier outfit, which is fitting.
2.. Galaxy

Galaxy was one of the biggest deals out of all Fortnite skins when it was first added! This was a free skin that came with purchasing certain Samsung Galaxy phones or tablets. However, it wasn’t available any other way. Since it only came with a single phone, that was quickly replaced, Galaxy became very rare. The skin has had follow ups since with more Galaxy effects, but the original is now pretty rare.
1. Unreleased Referee Skin – Sideline Commander
This one is undoubtably one of the rarest Fortnite skins, owned by just a handful of players. Problem is, it never got a real release.
There’s quite a few unreleased Fortnite skins, but this one was actually given out to content creators, since Epic intended to bring it to the Item Shop within days. They then decided it was too similar to an old referee skin, and abandoned the idea. But the content creators got to keep the skin! Meaning a very small handful of players have access to this. Making it the rarest Fortnite skins out there.
