What does Fortnite Returned to Lt Winter mean? In-game, players have had all Winterfest to open presents. But thanks to a big change to how they’re dealt out, quite a few might have missed one or two. Which has led to a large sign appearing on some that these presents have been returned to Lt Winter. What’s happening?

We’ve still got a few more days before Fortnite Winterfest ends. Which means anyone behind on their free gits can continue opening them, but won’t get all of them. Epic’s system this year has been a lot harsher though, forcing players to hit the game every day if they want to unlock everything. If you’re seeing the Fortnite returned to Lt Winter label, it might mean it’s too late. At least for some items.

What Does Fortnite Returned to Lt Winter Mean?

What exactly does the label mean then? Players jumping in this week have hit that make-or-break time. If you missed too many days of presents, they don’t stack anymore. Anyone who missed too many, will have the extras marked as returned to Lt Winter.

Essentially, the present has been handed back for the year! You can no longer open it. This means the contents of that Winterfest present are lost to you.

So far, we’ve seen it applied to the last of the free Fortnite skins for the year. To open this one up, you had to already go through every single present in the cabin. Which means if you missed an extra day, you can’t open it anymore. Which is why it has been returned to Lt Winter.

It’s a shame that the presents aren’t as easy to get this year. In the past, Epic made them stack. If you logged in at the end of the event you could open all of them. However, this season it’s pretty different. You had to play every day to get everything, which is compounding with the over-the-top XP this season.

It feels at the moment like Epic is trying to wring every last bit of playtime from players. Making grinding XP incredibly slow, locking battle Pass items behind quests in every mode, instead of just BR. And now changing things to need daily log ins. Between this and the game being in a bit of a rut, it’s got a fair share of players burnt out.

Will the Items Ever Come Back?

If you missed some of the Winterfest presents, what can you do? You won’t get them for free again. After Epic has insisted on players logging in every day for weeks straight, they’re unlikely to give everyone else a do-over. But sometimes free items come back.

In the last few Chapters, we’ve seen once free Fortnite skins end up in the item shop. So if you desperately need one of these skins in the game, you might be able to buy one in the future. However, not everything comes back. Sometimes a formerly free skin is just gone forever. It’s a shame the presents returned to Lt Winter could be gone permanently. Hopefully, the next Winterfest goes back to normal.
