When the game first added outfits like Renegade Raider, no one could have predicted it would ever get to this level. Compared to other games with skins, the answer to how many skins are in Fortnite is huge. But what’s the total number?
We’ve seen the answer to how many skins are in Fortnite balloon over the years. As Chapter 1 of the Fortnite Seasons showed this was a hit, we started getting more and more skins. We started with military style characters close to the defaults. Nothing too crazy. But, it started getting weirder and weirder.
Then we got collabs, icon skins, customizable characters, it’s become quite an ecosystem. We’ve even got shoes too now. Although, they don’t count toward the Fortnite skins total. If you want to know how many skins are in Fortnite this is the grand total in Chapter 6.
How Many Skins are in Fortnite?
As of Chapter 6 Season 4, there are over 2,400 skins in Fortnite.
That’s the Fortnite skin total. It’s the normal skins, not the different outfits. We’re counting the skins that re-use models but are different versions, like all the Jonesys. But we’re also not counting each version of customizable skins, which would make the number get to something absurd thanks to skins like Maya that had millions of possible variations.
A lot of these skins were added in the last few Chapters. But since Chapter 2 and the style of a Fortnite skin expanded, it’s gotten much bigger. Collabs now involve loads of skins whereas they used to be just one. Every Battle Pass always introduces a set number of new skins, along with the item shop changeover each day introducing more. Then there’s starter packs, the monthly Fortnite Crew subscription, and more.
The answer to how many skins are in Fortnite is only going to rise too. We’ll probably see the Fortnite skins total get above 3,000 in a few seasons too.
Average Fortnite Skins Added Per Season
That’s how many skins are in Fortnite, but how quickly is rising? The average number of Fortnite skins added per season was lower to start with. We only got a handful of Chapter 1 Season 1. But since then, it’s gotten higher and higher. Although, across Chapter 3-5 have largely stabilized. We get the set amount in the Battle Pass, and new shop skins on an irregular schedule, but normally at least one wave a week.
We can see the total rising quite sharply as the game found its feet, and probably more importantly found out just how many skins they can sell per season. But it has reached a bit of a plateau since. The Fortnite skins total doesn’t tend to skyrocket in any individual season anymore.
How Many Fortnite Collabs are there?
One of the biggest sources of skins now are Fortnite collabs. Collaborations began in Chapter 1, with some smaller ones. But have grown to be a part of every season and nearly every update. Fortnite has collabed with movies, TV shows, clothes, cars, a lot of stuff.
At the moment, there’s been more than 450 collabs in Fortnite. Most don’t come back that often though! They only come in and out of the item shop. They’re still a sizeable part of the Fortnite item shop total though.
How Many Icon Series Skins are there?
One of the most exciting forms of Fortnite collabs are the Icon skins. This is where Epic brings real world people into Fortnite as skins. We’ve gotten tons of these like musicians, but also Fortnite streamers. They aren’t a huge part of how many skins are in Fortnite, since it’s still a bit special to get one of these.

The first streamer to get Fortnite skins was Ninja. Since then, a ton more have gotten them. Including some Fortnite pros like Clix and Bugha. Although, since Fortnite Festival got added, there’s been a lot more musicians in the Fortnite skins list than anyone. Since one gets added every time that a new Fortnite season starts for Festival.
What Was the 1000th Fortnite Skin?
The 1000th skin was Etheria, added in 2021! We’ve more than doubled the Fortnite skins total since. One thing to keep in mind is that epic doesn’t really celebrate milestone for Fortnite skins. There’s nothing special about the 1,000th or 2,000th. It’s just another skin.
We don’t expect anything major for skin number 3,000 either. Since there’s new skins added all the time, it’s probably a little tricky to know which skin will be exactly number 1,000th that far ahead of time. Fortnite updates get moved around and skins brought forward or backward in the schedule. So there more standard skins than a celebration of the milestone.
