The Fortnite Reload map selection are some of the most varied we’ve seen across Fortnite. The game began life with a shrunk down OG map. But now, we’ve got an entire Fortnite Reload map rotation, with different designs that each have their own themes. We’ve got multiple nostalgia maps, one focused on a biome, there’s even an entire Reload Fortnite collab map. The maps don’t have to be a jack-of-all-trades island like in Battle Royale, they can be much more specific. How do the maps work though?

Fortnite Reload Map Explained – Current Rotation

In Fortnite Battle Royale, the map is simple. There’s one map, one island. It changes with Fortnite updates and gets entirely replaced with new Chapters. However, Reload doesn’t stick to a single map. Instead, it rotates around numerous ones. Although, there’s not so many that not all the Fortnite Reload maps are included in the game at once! Instead, some are unavailable.

What are all of the maps and what’s in the Fortnite Reload map rotation right now?

Fortnite Reload Map Rotation – Current Maps

There are currently four different Fortnite Reload maps available in the game. To stop it being a bit overwhelming, Epic cycles them around in a rotation. It doesn’t change the balance though, each map has the same Fortnite Reload weapons.

There are currently three within the rotation cycle. Each of these is cycled through every 20 minutes. So, we get 20 minutes where you queue up into one map, then 20 minutes on the next one.

The rotation means that within an hour you’ll see each of the Fortnite Reload maps. The games in Reload are short enough that you likely won’t miss one either. In the past, the Fortnite Reload map rotation was done every 8 minutes, which was a lot quicker and meant you often missed one. These are the maps in rotation right now:

  • Venture
  • Slurp Rush
  • Squid Grounds

Each hour begins with 20 minutes of Venture. Followed up by Slurp Rush, and finally Squid Grounds. So even if you only have an hour free, you can see each of them. There is currently one map missing from the Fortnite Reload map rotation. Although, it doesn’t seem to be away for a rework. It’s likely just not getting a turn right now, it’ll return in the future.

All Fortnite Reload Maps

Those are the Fortnite Reload maps which are cycling around the game right now. In all we’ve had four. Two of them follow a similar theme, however the other two are a bit different. These are the four Fortnite Reload maps we’ve seen in the past:

Venture

The original Fortnite Reload map! It only got a name more recently. Venture is the map based on the first of the Fortnite seasons. Venture is a shrunk down version of the original Chapter 1 map.

That means we have most of major POIs like Tilted Towers. Some of the POIs are smaller recreations of the originals, like Lil Loot Lake. It’s a map that’s completely dominated by Tilted Towers. Half the lobby lands here and every game seems to center around this one POI.

Oasis

The next of the Fortnite Reload map choices took a bit of a different inspiration. Rather than focusing on the map from a single chapter of the game, this one took inspiration from a biome. It’s a collection of the desert themed POIs we’ve seen across Fortnite’s history. The biggest central POI is the hotel building that was around for all of Chapter 2. However, there’s POIs from different eras shrunk down to fit the map too.

Slurp Rush

The next of the Fortnite Reload Maps is Slurp Rush. This is a more recent one. It’s also the map that was used or the Fortnite Pro-Am, a LAN tournament played on Reload. This map takes inspiration from Chapter 2. It’s still in the Fortnite Reload map rotation now.

More specifically, it’s focused on the Slurp factory POI. Although, it also includes versions of the cooling towers and other POIs. The official theme is Slurp, which is all over the map. It’s easy to see the Chapter 2 influence on this one though.

Squid Grounds

Finally, we’ve got the most recent of the Fortnite Reload map choices, Squid Grounds. This one is entirely focused on Fortnite collabs. It’s part of the Squid Games crossover. The map is inspired by Squid Games. There’s versions of the games and Squid Games iconography all around the map.

The Squid Grounds map is a fun part of the collaboration. Since Reload is so focused on combat, it often just feels like a backdrop. It’s nice to get a collab that’s in the game in a big way, but without it actually intruding on gameplay.

Those are all of our Fortnite Reload maps so far! Since it’s been the most popular BR mode in Fortnite player count terms for a while now though, we’re expecting even more in the future. Further Fortnite Reload maps could make the mode even more varied.
