How can you transform into a boss in Fortnite C7? There’s a whole re-work to how these characters on the map work. After five Chapters with fairly similar bosses, this makes a major change to how they work. Not only are the Fortnite C7 bosses getting a re-work for their spawns, but the whole system is different. With the Fortnite C7 boss transformations, you can become one of these NPCs.
The whole system is here to re-work how high-powered loot works. In Chapter 2, it was introduced. Players could track down a boss, kill them, and take their Mythic. Over time, the bosses got more powerful though. They started dropping Medallions which gave one player a unique power that let them overwhelm the lobby. These were finally nerfed at the end of Chapter 5, and it seems this is the replacement for Fortnite seasons going forward.
The whole mechanic is a little confusing, and it might end up being more of a mixed bag than previous versions of Medallions. This is how it works and where each of the Fortnite C7 bosses are at the moment:
The Fortnite C7 Bosses have a unique mechanic compared to previous seasons. The bosses still spawn in at the start of every game with a handful of henchmen. However, once you defeat them, they drop a thing you can interact with. Doing so will transform you into that boss, including a special power.
Once you arrive at one of the Fortnite C7 bosses, you’ll find the boss just wandering around like normal. Unlike the last couple of seasons, the fights have been simplified again. players just need to shoot them. They have two henchmen, but no crazy attacks or anything. No different phases, or anything to over complicate things.
They’re fairly easy to kill. Once the boss is dead, the Henchmen vanish too. So, there’s no real need to fight those extra enemies either. Once you kill the boss, they’ll drop a Mythic weapon, heals, and the item to transform.
The whole loadout is pretty good. You’ll get one of the best Fortnite weapons and meds. But if you want to go further, they also drop the item to become one of the Fortnite C7 Bosses.

Once you defeat a boss (or let the storm kill them, then head in and grab it) you’ll be able to interact with where they died to become that boss.
Once you finish the little animation, your skin transforms into that of your boss. You’ll also be bigger in height than a normal player. Around twice the size of some Fortnite skins, so you do stand out. Plus, you get a bit of extra shield and HP (only 125 of each, so not a crazy buff). You’ll also get a special effect applied to you. This is pretty much unique to each boss, just like the old Medallions.
Fortnite C7 Bosses each have these effects. They can be activated by using the transformation item that ends up in your loadout. You can’t drop these items, or untransform.
Once you transform into a boss, you have the effect applied at all times. You also get your location marked on the map too, just like the old medallions too! This transformation seems to have replaced the medallions wholesale.
It adds an extra downside to them though. It’s not just a yellow circle for the Fortnite C7 bosses. It’s a smaller, much more specific symbol marking your entire position. Although, there is the added benefit of extra health. The other big difference is you can’t stack these. Players can’t use more than one at once, so there is a more natural limit to how overpowered a player can be.

That’s all of the Fortnite C7 Boss transformations work. But where are the bosses? There’s a decent handful on the map this season. It is breaking with some Fortnite traditions though. It isn’t just the Battle Pass skins showing up as Fortnite C7 bosses. Instead, it’s a selection of skins from Fortnite’s past too.
The Fortnite C7 locations are also continuing the rework from the Simpsons mini Season. They’re spawning in different places, not a set spot every game. They will get an icon on the map to let you know. But you can’t bank on the Fortnite C7 Bosses always dropping in one spot.
These are the Fortnite C7 bosses and what they drop:

Tracking them down each game is going to be a bit more random. On the one hand, you can’t plan a drop around them. Which means they’re really going to disrupt events like the FNCS. Players won’t be able to claim a POI with a high-powered drop on it every game anymore. However, they will be marked on the map. So, if you’re willing to mix up your drop spots, you should be able to find the Fortnite C7 boss locations eventually.
