Crisp and Hang swap teams

After a strong start to the 2025 campaign, Top Esports has been on a downward trend since the debacle at First Stand, which saw them finish as the fourth-place team out of five. Despite strong domestic dominance in the LPL Split 2, TES failed to make it to the Mid-Season Invitational, as they were defeated unexpectedly by Team WE in playoffs. With the team looking to make it to Worlds this season on home soil, Crisp ended up being the one sacrificed in hopes of turning their tide around.

The new pickup, however, is equally questionable. Hang was previously known for his stint on LNG Esports, which saw him compete at Worlds 2023, but since then, he has struggled to find his footing. Despite being on WBG’s starting roster at the start of 2025, a series of poor performances led to support player Shi “Erha” Xu-Ye’s promotion. Known for his playmaking and confidence in engage champions, the current meta could be the piece TES needs to make the team click, especially compared to the player he replaced, who is mostly known for his enchanter supports.

Crisp returns to WBG after leaving at the end of 2024

Crisp will now re-join WBG after the team played two mediocre splits, especially compared to the peaks achieved in the two previous seasons, which included a Worlds final (2023) and a Worlds semifinal (2024). Despite the two strong runs, Crisp and his ADC Light were never considered among the best bot lanes in the LPL. Will the reunion with his 2019 FPX teammate Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang change that dynamic and will this be the perfect revenge story for Crisp?

The LPL Split 3 will kick off later this month after the end of the Esports World Cup LoL tournament.
