Chinese esports team BiliBili Gaming (BLG) have officially appointed Yang “Daeny” Dae-in as their new head coach for the 2026 season, rounding off the offseason for the reigning LPL champions.
Announced officially through BLG’s social media channels, the Korean coach joins BLG after his one-year stint on Invictus Gaming. The team, which featured star players like TheShy, Rookie, and Meiko, often struggled with consistency during the season.
The biggest weakness for IG was their volatile gameplay and excessive reliance on late-game scaling. Nonetheless, it was visible that Daeny was slowly improving the team over the course of the season, which eventually led the team to a Worlds qualification. Unfortunately, IG had to go against T1 in the play-in stage and were immediately eliminated, finishing in 17th place.
With the Korean coach joining BLG, he will now have what could arguably be the most stressful challenge since his T1 days: leading BLG to a world championship. After bringing back jungler Peng “Xun” Li-Xun and importing Korean ADC Park “Viper” Do-Hyeon from Hanhwa Life Esports, BLG has put together what is, on paper, considered the strongest LPL roster in recent times, potentially even stronger than the JD Gaming lineup that dominated for the majority of 2023.
The pressure will be immense as the Chinese team comes from a disastrous 2025 season, where they were eliminated in the Swiss stage despite being the LPL first seed. The question will be whether Daeny can further elevate this team’s potential by finding the correct meta reads and innovative strategies. With the introduction of role quests and other aspects that should raise the overall agency for every role, a complete package like BLG is expected to be a major contender for both domestic and international titles
BLG is set to have its first taste of the new lineup during the year-end Demacia Cup, before the 2026 season officially kicks off with Split 1 in January.
