LPL Split 3 is the third regional split for the League of Legends Professional League of the 2025 season. The event is held prior to the LoL World Championship and decides the LPL representatives at the last tournament of the year.

LPL Split 3 2025

LPL Split 3 2025 Format & Teams

The LPL Split 3 will consist of a regular season followed by a playoff stage and the Regional Finals. Some changes were announced in early July compared to the format initially announced at the start of the year.

In the first stage, the 14 teams will be split into two groups. The top eight from Split 2 will start in Group Ascend, while the bottom six will be placed in Group Nirvana. There will be a double round robin of Bo3 in each group (rather than the original single round robin of Bo5s).

Side selection in 1v1 solo match has also been removed. Therefore, side selection for Game 1 of the regular season will be decided through a coin flip (winner chooses). This is likely due to how much broadcast time it took to get the 1v1 completed.

The top four from Group Ascend will go directly to the Grand Finals Bracket Stage. The remaining four teams will join the top four of Group Nirvana in the Grand Finals Play-in to play four Qualification Matches for the playoff (featuring Bo5 matches).

The top eight will then compete in a double-elimination bracket, with the top four teams from Group Ascend selecting their Round 1 opponents from the play-in matches.

Side selection will be given to the following teams: the Group Ascend team in Knight’s Rivals, the first 4 seeded teams in Playoffs Round 1, and the upper bracket finalist in Finals. All other matches will have side selection chosen by coin flip.

The playoff winner will automatically qualify for Worlds as the first seed while the second seed will be selected based on the amount of championship points earned throughout the season.

The remaining Worlds seeds will be determined by the regional finals, which will have two different formats depending on whether the LPL finishes as a top-two region at the Mid-Season Invitational.

If the LPL finishes in the top two and gets the additional fourth seed, the last two Worlds representatives will be determined by the winner of a water-fall style bracket between the top four ranked teams in total championship points (that haven’t already qualified for Worlds).

If the LPL only gets three seeds, then the Regional Finals will consist of a single elimination King of the Hill Bracket between the top three, non-qualified, teams in championship points.
