When is the Fortnite OG live event? Now that OG has worked its way to the mid-point of Chapter 1, we’re getting more and more elaborate features in the mode. It’s currently Chapter 1 Season 4 in OG, which is when the first Fortnite live event happened. It’s going to be taking place again in Fortnite OG too! If you didn’t ply first time around, this is a perfect chance to see what all the fuss is about.
Fortnite was already a juggernaut by the time these events began, but they definitely helped elevate it. These live events meant nearly all players had to be in the game at once. In the early Fortnite seasons, they just took place in normal games too. There was a risk of getting killed while just trying to see what was happening in-game. Now the Fortnite OG live event is going to recreate the rocket launch. But some players think it might be different this time.
There’s the possibility that the Fortnite OG live event might go a bit differently this time too. Which could definitely spice things up for older players tuning back in. When is it going to take place?
When is the Fortnite OG Live Event?
The next Fortnite OG live event is going to start very soon. If you want to make sure you’re safe and in the lobby at the right time. It’s taking place on Saturday July 26th, at these times depending on your time zone:
- 2 PM ET
- 11 AM PST
- 7 PM BST
- 4 am Thursday, AEST
- 8 pm CEST
It’s usually best to arrive a little early. To make sure any potential server problems don’t mean you miss it. Although, the Fortnite servers have coped a lot better with the recent Fortnite live events.
How to Watch the Event
To take part in the Fortnite OG live event, players just need to load into the game at the right time and select the playlist! That’s in OG this time. If you queue into Battle Royale like normal you’ll probably just run into a normal game. But in OG, it should be the next Fortnite live event. Originally, the Rocket Launch event worked quite differently to modern live events too.
The first time around, players could be killed during events. Chapter 1 even saw the kill record set in an event. As an opportunistic player cut out the builds everyone was watching the rocket from. Murdering the lobby and setting quite an unrealistic record thanks to the weird situation. It’s a permanently frustrating record that means the best Fortnite players don’t get the kill record, but someone griefing a live event.
Because of issues like this, Epic now disables fighting during events. So, everyone can actually watch the event, not just get killed. It’s likely the rocket launch event will have weapons turned off this time though.
Blast Off Gets a second Run
This new Fortnite OG live event means we’ll be expecting more than one per season now. As we get original live events in OG and new ones in Battle Royale.
Weirdly, it’s not the first time we’ve seen a Fortnite live event re-ran. Players who missed out on one of the recent Chapter ending live events got another opportunity too. In that case, it was because the servers completely broke. Loads of people couldn’t get in, let alone queue or the event. Since this was a server issue, we saw the Fortnite live event re-ran later in the day for those who missed out. Although, encore performances are the exception rather than the rule.
With this new Fortnite OG live event, we’ve got confirmation on something fans have been debating for a while. While OG came back and even recreated weird updates like the Zapatron, we weren’t sure if it was going to do live events. Now we know they’re coming. This likely means we’ll see re-dos of all the major Chapter 1 events.
We could even see some changes from the first time around. We’ve already had slight differences. Like a different colored light near the rocket, and a different target for the meteors teased. Although, so far we haven’t seen a major departure from how things went originally. The voting event could prove to be the one that changes things. We’ll have to see what comes in future Fortnite OG updates to see how it turns out.
Ultimately, people play Fortnite OG for an experience close to how the game was years ago. But the player count has been dwindling. Perhaps exploring different outcomes for Fortnite live events could give OG a shot in the arm for a few weeks.
