Next Fortnite OG Season Release Date

Since it was added as a permanent mode, we’ve seen the earliest seasons of Fortnite come and go. But launch dates are getting a bit more spread out. As each mode gets new content, players might be wondering when is the next Fortnite OG update? The one to bring us into Chapter 1 Season 5? Blitz, Reload, Battle Royale, all seem to be getting a bit more attention right now than OG.

Fortnite OG began in Chapter 1 Season 1. Which to a lot of the player base, might have been too early in the game’s history to really gel. But as we’ve gotten further into the season count the game has stated to more and more resemble the more popular seasons. The meta is getting more developed each time. Not to mention, the next Fortnite season means another batch of remixed OG skins.

While it doesn’t get as many updates as other modes, OG has its fans. As a flashback mode, it doesn’t really need the constant update schedule. A new season will be coming soon though. When will it come to the game?

When is the Next Fortnite OG Update?

We’re expecting the next major Fortnite OG update to come on August 8th! That’s the date pencilled in for when the current Fortnite season ends in OG. It’s the same date that the new season begins in Battle Royale!

The current seasonal changes in Fortnite have all lined up for some reason. We got a new Superhero themed season in OG and Battle Royale at the same time last season. This time OG Season 5 and the new Battle Royale season will line up too. Although, the theme probably won’t gel in the same way this time. We’re getting an alien invasion in Battle Royale, which doesn’t really match those old Fortnite seasons so well.

The next Fortnite OG update will come in August. We expect Season 5 to run for a few months. Lately, the OG seasons have been getting quite long. So, Season 5 might run through to the Autumn this time.

Next Fortnite OG Season

That’s when we’re expecting the next Fortnite OG update, but what’s coming in Season 5? It’ll be the original Season 5 lovingly re-created. We’ve already seen even an hour-long update to original Fortnite coming back. So we can expect the next Fortnite OG season to be a pretty accurate version. The theme originally was the Zero point, with other worlds becoming a part of Fortnite.

This season featured items like the Grappler, Shockwave Grenades, Rift to Go, Heavy Sniper. A lot of the items which are now the best out of Fortnite’s loot pool will be in play! We’ll especially have a much more mobile loot pool, and a more varied map.

It’ll be fun to revisit this kind of balance for Fortnite OG Season 5! We’re now seven years since the season’s original release. Although, it is far enough into the timeline that the Fortnite OG mini season we got a few years ago did recreate Season 5, so its gameplay might be a bit more familiar to players than expected.

Season 5 also marks the hallway point of Chapter 1. There’s a lot more excitement to come. At least until we get to Season X, and can re-experience what might be one of the worst Fortnite seasons we’ve seen so far. For the next year or so though, we’ll likely be paying through the other late Chapter 1 seasons. Then, it’s possibly back to Season 1 or maybe onto Chapter 2 for Fortnite OG.
