Fortnite is down. For some people at least, if you try to log in right now, you’ll be hit with Fortnite unable to sign in to your account screen. It’s effecting a lot of people, on the PlayStation network, Xbox online, PC. But if you’re looking for a quick solution, you might be out of luck. Epic’s servers for just about every game seem to be having a crisis. They’re closed to new customers, with logins not working right now.

This current issue with the Fortnite unable to sign in to your account error is not even our first today. Before this, matchamaking errors were all over the game. Now players can access their Epic accounts. It’s not just for Fortnite either. Fall Guys, Rocket League, anything depending on their account system has shut down. This is what we know and where to watch to get back into the game.

Fortnite Unable to Sign in to Your Account Error
If you’re trying to log in today, you might be hit with this error. The Fortnite unable to sign in to your account problem. It’s where you try to get past that key art splash screen… but the game just loops around trying to log in.
Sometimes this screen is an issue with your set-up, connection, or version of the game. Like trying to boot a version with an older Fortnite update. But sometimes it can be platform specific. Right now, there’s tons of reports of players unable to sign into PlayStation Network or Xbox to play Fortnite, or their overall Epic Launcher. But it’s not a problem with the providers platform, the problem is with Epic.
According to Epic, the problem is only with login. Not with matchamking. So, if you’re in the game already it’s possible you can keep playing. You just can’t get friends to join you right now.
In the updates to their official server status, they’re aware of and investigating a problem. However, since it’s affecting everything that uses an Epic account it’s a wide-ranging problem. The good news is that there’s nothing wrong with your set-up, the bad is that we have no idea when it’ll be fixed. But these kinds of issues are usually quickly resolved.
When Will Fortnite Come Back Up?
If you’ve been hit by the Fortnite unable to sign in to your account error, which it seems is affecting absolutely everyone. then all you can do is wait for the game to come back. In the past, Epic has been on these errors quickly.
The longest we’ve seen an outage like this lately was just under a day. That was unprecedented though. Fortnite’s been broadly stable with few outages longer than an hour or two outside of planned FN downtime for a long time now. But right now, we have no idea.

These issues have been persisting all day, and they’re gotten worse. Hopefully, it’ll be back online by tomorrow! Otherwise, we might see a lot more players having to resort to XP maps to grind XP after missing a daily or two.
We’ll know when its back online from the public Epic server status. The Fortnite server status social medias posts update, as does the official server status site. But the only update we’re likely to get is either “we’re working on it”, or it’s fixed. They don’t get minute by minute updates because it wouldn’t be particularly helpful.
Occasionally, in the past, we’ve seen a free item given out when the game is offline for an extended period. That hasn’t happened lately though, so don’t hold your breath for a free Fortnite skin. We’ll probably just see the game back online soon enough as the sweats start to get withdrawals, as if it never went down.
