Fortnite OG Season 7 is coming soon. This is going to be a new seasonal drop for the flashback version of the game. But what exactly is coming?
We’re currently reaching the stage in Fortnite’s old seasons where the game got a lot more complicated. It’s not quite Chapter 2 with its mythics and bosses. But Season 7 is definitely a long way away from where the game started. There’s even one of the most impactful items Fortnite ever saw here. It was a wacky season, and it’ll be fun to revisit.
Fortnite is now more than just Battle Royale. The game has different maps in Creative, like the best XP maps. But it’s also got other Royales, Delulu which is focused on communication. Then, there’s Fortnite OG. Originating as a mini season after Chapter 4, the mode was eventually added back permanently. It’s now a mode which cycles through the Chapter 1 seasons. We’re now reaching Season 7. When will it release and what can players expect?

Fortnite OG Season 7 is our next big release for the nostalgia mode. This mode will be reintroducing the content we saw in the original Season 7. The Fortnite patch notes for this mode are never too surprisingly, it roughly recreates the original experience. You’ll see the same weapons, map changes, and more introduced. At a pace which usually matches how the original season ran.
Season 7 had some major changes and content which is now iconic as holiday updates for the game. It began as the Ice King defrosted, and snow came over the map. We also saw some winter pois added like Frosty Flights.
The big gameplay change for Fortnite OG Season 7 might be the Planes. They were ridiculous when first added. They completely destroyed the meta, being a way to demolish builds with very little downside. They’ve been better balanced since, but were a menace at first. Something closer to the original version will probably be back for this season.
In the first run at Fortnite OG, the final batch of seasons were a little rushed. Rather than the map changes we originally saw or Season 7, it was restrained to one biome. The planes also required fuel, and had all the nerfs to them that they’ve accumulated since. It meant the game played very differently. It’ll be nice to get a proper re-visit to this period. It might not have been the most balanced, but it was unique.
We also saw ziplines added for better mobility here and Creative was established in Season 7! We’ll likely see all of these brought back of Fortnite OG Season 7. Creative aside, since that’s still available.

The biggest question for Fortnite OG Season 7 is the Infinity Blade. This weapon was added in the 7.01 update for the new season… then removed in a hotfix very quickly. It wasn’t a mistake though, just incredibly poorly thought out.
The Blade was the earliest version of a Mythic, a weapon only one player could get at once. It gave passive healing, extra health, crazy damage and structure damage. It was the best Fortnite weapons added to the game at that point. It was in the game long enough to completely ruin a Fortnite esports tournament. But it did get removed quickly.
What will happen for Fortnite OG Season 7? In the past, we’ve seen some interesting takes on these brief items. One gun that was in the game for an hour came back for a weekend. The Infinity blade was a bit longer lived in the first place, so it’ll probably stick around for longer. It could be here for the first month or maybe longer.
It probably won’t receive any balancing fixes! Fortnite OG Season 7 will probably feature the overpowered Infinity Blade as it was originally intended.
OG is getting close to reaching this season. It’s currently scheduled to be released on November 29th 2025! It’s been a fairly long run for each of the OG seasons recently, so once it releases, we can probably expect it to stay for a while.
OG Seasons started off shorter than standard Fortnite seasons. But now they’ve roughly lined up with the normal game. Fortnite OG Season 7 will be coinciding with the release of a new Fortnite Chapter. We’ll see a brand-new map but OG will be sticking around on the same old map. There will be a fun mix of items returning to the game though.
