PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds comes from the mind of Brendan Greene, who is better known as PlayerUnknown. Greene is widely regarded as the creator of the battle royale genre, dating back to ARMA II in 2013. Ultimately, Korean company Krafton hired Greene to create his own game. Greene agreed, moved to Korea and, eventually, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds aka PUBG would be published in 2017. Almost immediately, PUBG competitions were taking place for large prize pools. Over the years, these would grow and develop with the PUBG Global Championship becoming the premier international event.
