Team Vitality, currently known for being in the middle of a Counter-Strike era, has expanded their horizons as they acquire Bigetron Esports of Indonesia to build on their presence across more esports titles, specifically mobile gaming. This is wonderful news for mobile gaming as they are slowly being recognized globally while more known esports brands also benefit from the viewership and the community of the region.

Team Vitality Acquires Bigetron Esports As They Enter Mobile Gaming

Why Bigetron Esports?

Heading into the SEA market is no accident for Vitality. As a region, Southeast Asia houses about 100 million gamers, with mobile games having the lion share of the market. We all remember the last Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship with a notable peak viewership of 4 million. The local championship of Indonesia alone also peaks up to 2.1 million viewership, making it one of the most popular esports in the market.

If you’ve been around in the world of MLBB, there’s no way you won’t have heard about Bigetron Esports. They foster a lot of teams in mobile gaming esports titles, some with great accolades and a few with world titles already in their belts so if you’re going to take the first step into MLBB, this is a great place to start.

Bigetron by Vitality

Bigetron Esports’ brand identity will now be known as ‘Bigetron by Vitality’, to still show the legacy of the organization while Team Vitality integrated their brand for their future mobile gaming activities. Bigetron Esports CEO, Edwin Chia, alongside Team Vitality’s Co-Founder CEO, Nicolas Maurer and Corporate Director of Global Operations, Danny Engels, will work together as the respective leads for Vitality’s mobile gaming entity.

“We are thrilled to announce our acquisition of Bigetron Esports.” said Nicolas Maurer, CEO of Team Vitality “As the popularity of mobile gaming continues to soar, particularly with younger generations growing up on mobile games, Team Vitality is proud to support shaping the long-term future of mobile gaming esports together with the Bigetron leadership team. This acquisition marks an important step in our internationalization as well as becoming the best gaming organization in the world.”

“The merger was driven by our shared vision with Team Vitality to inspire and empower gamers to achieve greatness through innovation, collaboration, and relentless dedication to excellence. We believe alongside Team Vitality, we can continue achieving greatness and showcasing the stellar Indonesian esports talent on an expansive international stage.” commented the CEO of Bigetron Esports, Edwin Chia.

The following teams of Bigetron Esports are the ones to acquire the new brand identity:

  • Men’s Mobile Legends Bang Bang Team
  • Women’s Mobile Legends Bang Bang Team
  • PUBG Mobile Team
  • Free Fire Team
  • Honor of Kings Team

The Future of Mobile Gaming Esports

Team Vitality is the second esports giant to fully acquire an organization in Southeast Asia, following Team Liquid’s acquisition of an Indonesian organization, Aura Fire, and its brother team, ECHO from the Philippines.

There’s also OG Esports who also announced their partnership this year with the current MSC 2024 x EWC champion, Selangor Red Giants. More and more well-known esports organizations are acknowledging mobile gaming as another platform for their team to strive in and I for one couldn’t be happier to see MLBB continue to grow.
