The stakes rose even higher on Day 4 of the MPL ID S16 Playoffs as the competition entered its most intense phase yet. The weight on the shoulders of both Alter Ego and EVOS was heavy, as both teams had their final chance to move on to the Grand Finals of MPL ID S16. Both organizations had already experienced what it’s like at the pinnacle of professional Indonesian MLBB. This was their return to the peak once again to try and win the championship of the regional league.

Day 4 of MPL ID S16 Playoffs started with EVOS winning the first game with Alberttt’s signature Hayabusa, relentlessly finding pickoffs to give them the advantage. The game snowballed out of Alter Ego’s control, even if they had comfort picks given to them by EVOS.

That didn’t stop them, however, from coming back immediately in the second game when they almost picked the same heroes except that their sidelanes are now composed of fighters, especially giving Nino his Yu Zhong. Yazuke then had an easier time weaving in and out of the fights to find kills among the EVOS camp. It was an exchange of blows for both teams, as they won each game convincingly when they executed their game plan correctly.

Momentum Triumphs

Alter Ego had the exact same plan, where they had Nino and Arfy once again use Fighters on the side lanes as well as pick Yi Sun-Shin for Yazuke. Only this time, they picked a random Helcurt for Alekk as a roamer. This hero never saw daylight until this match, and it worked wonders for Alter Ego, blocking EVOS’ vision with Helcurt’s ultimate and disorienting their formation heavily. The momentum was in favor of Alter Ego, giving them the win over EVOS.

This made EVOS adjust their bans, focusing on Alter Ego’s comforts such as Yu Zhong and Zhu Xin. EVOS’ star jungler Alberttt once again fought like it was the last game of his life with a stellar performance with Lancelot. Every single teamfight went in EVOS’ way, returning the score to another tie of 2-2.

Altered Outcome

As it was going the distance, Alter and EVOS expended every single strategy in their book. Alter Ego was just more clean and polished, executing their plays in the Land of Dawn. Both Game 5 and 6 were just early- to mid-game masterclasses from them, as they didn’t drop their tempo for both games. EVOS couldn’t respond to how fast Alter Ego was playing, resulting in them moving on to the Grand Finals. It has been about 5 years since their return to the Grand Finals, and we’ll get to see them attempt to dethrone the Sky Kings of Indonesia.

The Return to the Grand Finals

EVOS showcased incredible discipline, relying on their patented team-fight execution and objective control to take early momentum. However, Alter Ego countered with aggressive lane pressure and early team group-ups. In the end, Alter Ego emerged victorious with a 4-2 win, sending the arena into a frenzy and booking their place in the Grand Finals of MPL ID S16 playoffs, against ONIC Indonesia tomorrow, November 2, 2025.

Two teams remain, showing the heart of a champion, but only one can lift the trophy and claim Indonesia’s crown.
