Despite waning results in Dota 2 and Counter-Strike, OG Esports is still one of the most successful esports orgs of all time and now they’ve announced a new venture into MLBB. OG have partnered with Selangor Red Giants for the 2025 MLBB season as confirmed in a video on their official social media channels.

The news comes just days after SRG owner Simon Mason Lim dropped hints on his Instagram account about partnering with an org, claiming it was “all about blue and white” – two dominant colors in OG’s logo. This led to a tonne of speculation but now we have the official announcement.
A new venture for OG
It makes a lot of sense for an org like OG to venture into new games, having already established their legacy in the likes of Dota 2. After becoming the only team in history to lift the Aegis twice in a row, they have struggled to stay on top amid multiple roster shuffles and are still experiencing problems qualifying to LANs to this day. Now, not only has OG already seen some success with a recent venture into the new Marvel Rivals scene but adding this MLBB partnership to their roster should also help them stay in the game in a hugely mutually beneficial way.
Dawn of a new day
MLBB has a thriving esports scene, especially in Southeast Asia and despite being only 2 years old, SRG have had some wild success with first place finishes at MPL Malaysia Season 13, MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024 and M6 World Championship all in 2024 alone. It’s no secret that no team in MLBB history has lifted not only the MSC trophy but overall international trophies consecutively. So when it comes time for the grand finals again, if SRG can achieve that this year, it’ll be the second time OG will have played a role in such a significant moment in esports history.
This collaboration also marks a significant moment in MLBB history. With orgs like OG and Team Liquid seeing the value in the game, it’s only a matter of time before others follow suit
SRG x OG will be making their debut at the MPL Malaysia Season 15, due to begin in April after the original date would have coincided with Aidilfitri celebrations.
