MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 3 Results: ONIC Secure EWC Spot

This is what happened on Day 3 of the playoffs now we’ve nearly locked in our winners:

Geek Fam ID vs Alter Ego in MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 3

The first game of the day went with a last pick Hanzo by Alter Ego. Geek Fam ID didn’t seem worried over the pick since they had a clear plan to prevent its skill kit. The mid trio, Baloyskie, Maykids and ABOY went everywhere Alter Ego’s jungler Rinee was to prevent him from flash farming. This worked in their favor as the responses by Alter Ego’s players were slow to block the aggression or trade elsewhere on the map.

The relentless pressure by Geek Fam ID was too much for Alter Ego to handle, ending the game as early as 12 minutes.During Game 2’s draft, Alter Ego had yet another surprise unique pick their jungler, Rinee, last picking Leomord to conclude their lineup. The heavy burst that Leomord could bring was what Alter Ego needed. The early game was a stalemate.

There was a final clash between the two teams, which could have gone both ways but Geek Fam ID’s Gold Laner, KennzyySkie, had an amazing outplay. Flickering out of the way to prevent the damage from Alter Ego veteran Nino’s Phoveus ultimate. He then followed it up with a quick Synchro Fission (Harith’s first skill), securing the kill and the point for Geek Fam ID.

The last game of this part of MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 3 was brutal.

Geek Fam ID wanted to speed run the entire series, ending it with a stomp. The biggest mistake of Alter Ego in this series was giving Baloyskie access to one of his best heroes while being the most contested. Giving a macro centric hero to Big Brain Baloyskie was a hard gamble to trade for another global scale hero, Luo Yi. Baloyskie went around the entire map, giving an advantage to all lanes early to mid game.

The game ended as early as 13 minutes,  the first clean sweep in the entire playoffs and the at 38:41 game time, the fastest out of all MPL ID S15 Playoffs games.

Endless Battle of The Sky Kings and The King of Kings: ONIC vs RRQ Hoshi

The live audience waited for this moment at the MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 3, as ONIC faces RRQ Hoshi in the grand finals for the nth time. The arena was fully occupied, with fans watching just outside the venue.

The series started with ONIC’s coach, Coach Yeb, picking Kairi’s signature hero, Ling. Fans around the world went wild with the first phase last pick Ling to see the Sky King in his comfort pick.

The early game was taken over by RRQ Hoshi, ONIC struggled the entire time until the 15 minute mark where RRQ Hoshi tried to end the game. But ONIC turned the game on its head during the 3rd lord when RRQ overextended, losing 3 heroes in the process. They marched with the lord towards RRQ’s base, overwhelming the Kingdom to give them the first point in the series.

RRQ gave the fans a treat with their surprise final pick, Yi Sun Shin, for their jungler Sutsujin. ONIC responded with an Alpha quick pick for Kairi to round their draft as well. The turning point was contesting for the 2nd lord where RRQ’s Rinz got caught after the lord just spawned. ONIC pressured RRQ to contest. Luring them to a disadvantageous team fight and a loss for the Kingdom 0-2. SANZ even outplayed against Sutsujin on the top lane attempting to split push.

Next up at the MPL ID S15 Playoffs Day 3, RRQ Hoshi’s coach Khezcute opened Luo Yi for ONIC to pick as well as Kairi’s Ling but had an opportunity to pick Joy for Sutsujin. ONIC led the early to mid game with Kiboy and Lutpiii always participating in the team fights. Their roamer Idok always finds the perfect Implosion to control the team fight, catch 2-3 members of ONIC for his teammates to burst. Even when ONIC was breaching their base, he found the best ultimate execution possible in the situation to eventually give them their first win.

This was RRQ’s last chance to tie the series. They stuck with their winning formula in game 3, having Joy and Selena once again for this game. Coach Yeb however let loose another unorthodox pick for Kairi, giving him Kaja again in the jungle. RRQ had ONIC’s number during the early game, taking most of the neutral objectives except for the first lord, which was stolen by Kairi.

RRQ was still in the driver’s seat until a misstep happened for Sutsujin, overextending to the open arms of ONIC. That blunder cost RRQ the chance to contest for the lord, which ONIC utilized fully after a huge Diversion play from SANZ to lock down their carries, ending the series and MPL S15 ID Playoffs Day 3.

While Geek Fam ID continued to prove our predictions for the playoffs bracket, ONIC is the first team to secure a spot in the Grand Finals of MPL ID S15. As well as a spot to represent Indonesia for MSC 2025 at EWC. Geek Fam ID will face off against RRQ Hoshi tomorrow, June 14, 2025 at 6:30 PM GMT+8 for a revenge match against ONIC.
