A bit last minute, we’ve got a Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament happening today! A major Duos tournament featuring some of the biggest content creators and pros. All playing together. The tournament is here to celebrate a brand-new skin coming to the Fortnite item shop. It’s utilizing unique rulesets for a wacky tournament set-up.
One of the biggest honors for Fortnite content creators is an Icon Series skin. Where Epic makes a skin of the content creator to sell in the shop. We’ve already seen pros like Bugha get a skin, but now MrSavage is joining the Fortnite Icon Series! The Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament is to celebrate this skin. Twitch Rivals Fortnite Tournament Explained
How exactly will this tournament work? Twitch Rivals events are always a bit different. They like to cater to a more casual audience, often Fortnite uses different modes for this event. It’s just Battle Royale this time though, no XP maps are in play. For this Twitch Rvials Fortnite tournament, we’re getting a mix of formats.
The event will see 50 teams of 2 players compete. There are five different maps. Each has a different set-up.
Map 1
The first for the Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament is OG Battle Royale Duos, so the flashback mode. The only items are Rocket Launcher, Guided Missile, Grenade Launcher, and consumables. Players can only use explosives! It’ll be a wacky version of OG.
Map 2
For the second, we’re going to actual Battle Royale. But only with pickaxes, meds, and shockwave hammer. None of the best Fortnite weapons will be available. Players aren’t allowed to use the Megazord transformation or Precision Airstrike either. With only pickaxes in play though, it’s not exactly a skilled based tournament.
Map 3
The third map is back to OG Zero Build duos for the Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament. Players get different items this time though. The Hunting Rifle, Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle, and Semi-Automatic Sniper are all allowed.
Map 4
Next is Battle Royale Duos again. This time some items are allowed though! The Leadspitter 3000, Swarmstrike, Bug Blaster, Stinger SMG, Veiled Precision SMG, and Shockwave Hammer are all okay.
Map 5
Finally, it’s Battle Royale Zero Builds. The normal loot pool this time! Players don’t have to watch what they pick up. The Megazord still isn’t allowed though.
Scoring
That’s how the Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament is going to work, but how can teams score points? There’s quite normal scoring for kills and placement, it’s mainly the loot pool that’s making things a bit different. This is how the scoring works:
- Victory Royale – 25 Points
- 2nd – 16 Points
- 3-4th – 14 Points
- 5-6th – 11 Points
- 7-10th – 10 Points
- 11-18th – 8 Points
- 19-24th – 6 Points
- 11-18th – 4 Points
- 33-38th – 2 Points
- 39-50 – 0 Points
- Each Elimination – 1 Point
- Penalties – 20 Points or breaking the loot pool rules
That’s all players can do to get points! The penalties are an interesting addition. If a player can make enough points from breaking the rules, it might be worth it! There’s $50,000 in total for the Twitch Rivals Fortnite tournament so definitely worth trying to get high on the leaderboard this time. It might not make someone the richest Fortnite player but it’s decent for a skin cup.
