Is there a tournament in Fortnite today? The game has a huge selection of tournaments available, although they don’t quite cover every day of the week. Instead, players might occasionally have to wait to take part in a tournament. Not for long though. The schedule is packed most days of the week. During the height of the season, players can pretty much always find one.

Is There a Tournament in Fortnite Today?

At the moment, in its effort to cut back on cheating, Epic has introduced the requirements to enter Fortnite tournaments. Now, you have to play in a number of smaller tournaments before you can touch the bigger ones in the Fortnite competitive schedule. If you want to get your tournaments in as quickly as possible, you might need to play most days of the week! If you’re wondering is there a tournament in Fortnite today, this is what the schedule looks like in Chapter 6 Season 3.

Is There a Fortnite Tournament Today?

If it’s a day of the week other than Monday, there’s a very good it’s a yes!

Essentially, throughout the current season, Epic is running Fortnite events on a set schedule. Every week the same events will take place. At the same time, same place. So, if you want to get involved in a tournament, you’ll need to show up regularly to be a part of each round. They’re held at predictable times.

That’s largely the case for the Cash Cups that go on throughout the season. However, there’s another level to Fortnite esports, a higher level.

There’s the FNCS. The highest level of the Fortnite competitive schedule. That runs for most of the season in Chapter 6. Players have to start with weekly Divisional Cups which allow them to move through the tiers and try to gain access to the later stages. Then there’s a Group Stage, Last Chance Qualifier, all before we get to the Finals. These narrow down the players. Helping us go from a pretty much open field, to just the top 100 players in each of the Fortnite competitive regions each season.

All of this means the FNCS now runs for over 6 weeks. Meaning it’s part of the schedule for a lot of the season. If it’s a weekend before the FNCS concludes, there’s a good chance there is a Fortnite tournament today. However, once it’s over these days tend to be unoccupied on the schedule.

What do the regular events look like? This is the current schedule for Fortnite tournaments we’ve seen and the days where there is a Fortnite tournament today.

Fortnite Competitive Schedule

  • Mondays – Off
  • Tuesdays – Performance Evaluations, Ranked Cups
  • Wednesdays – Ranked Cups
  • Thursdays – Solo Cash Cash Cups, Ranked Cups
  • Fridays – Solo Cash Cups
  • Saturdays – FNCS, Ranked Cups
  • Sundays – FNCS, Ranked Cups, OG Cups

That’s the schedule at the moment for Chapter 6 Season 2. It does change from Season to Season. On different seasons, there’s a very similar set of events but the days get moved around. Perhaps to give players with a set schedule outside of the game a chance to get involved in Fortnite esports. Having there often be a tournament in Fortnite today can help with it. It does mean you’ll need to ease back in each season, along with getting tournament ready in general.

Other Fortnite Events (Non-Weekly)

That’s the major Fortnite tournaments that might be happening today, but there’s another group which aren’t held every week. Tournaments which are still regular, but not on a weekly basis on the Fortnite competitive schedule.

The Ranked Cups are really quite frequent. But they’re not every week. You’ll get them very regularly for most of the season, so they do help flesh out the calendar. Sometimes there’s two events running with Ranked Cups occupying multiple days a week. A normal tournament, and one for the different ranked rewards each season. It’s a big part of the Fortnite competitive schedule, with events for each rank.

Then there’s the FNCS, and the seasonal cups. With big new item shop releases, we often get tournaments like the PJ Champion Cup. These usually happen between our normal tournaments. Meaning on these weeks, there’s likely is a tournament in Fortnite today no matter which day it is.

At the moment, we also get occasional PlayStation Cups. These are Sony sponsored events for those on console. Not a major focus for the very serious pros on the Fortnite competitive calendar, but something to be aware of if you’re willing to boost up a spare console just to not miss out on competing in every event possible.

The Quiet Weeks

That covers most of the season, but Fortnite does get quiet weeks. There are periods where the game doesn’t get regular tournaments for just a handful in a week.

These are usually the opening and the closing of the season. The time when players are getting used to the new content, or just waiting for what come next with all eyes on Fortnite news or the announcements. In these periods, tournaments often slow to a crawl. If you’re in a handover period for Fortnite, then there might not be a Fortnite tournament for a few days. Outside of these lulls though, things are very regular! There’s always Fortnite Ranked too, to do games against similarly skilled players at the very start or end of a season.
