This weekend we’ll see the next stage of the FNCS Major 2 take place, but first we get the Champion PJ FNCS Cup. A new event to celebrate the release of a skin in the item shop. These cups are always a fun distraction. A chance for players to compete for a prize, in this case a brand-new skin celebrating the Fortnite Champion Series with a fresh recolor of a classic skin.
Beyond that, it’s an opportunity to beginner players to wet their toes in Fortnite tournaments. With Cash Cups being a little harder to enter now, events like are important to start in Fortnite esports. The new tournament is part of the build-up for the second major of this Chapter’s Fortnite Champion Series.
If rumours are to be believed, this might be our only event for a while under the FNS banner! It might be skipped next season. The new tournament won’t quite be on the same level as the Major itself. However, these events do hold a unique charm. How exactly will it work and what’s the new FNCS skin that’s coming?

To celebrate another FNCS Major, we’re getting a fresh FNCS skin. Another version of a popular sweat skin, re-done to conform to the FNCS branding. Alongside these releases, Epic holds Cups in-game. A short competitive event where the best Fortnite teams in each region can get the skin for free.
The tournament will be held on April 12th. A single day, with the skin awarded pretty son afterwards! These are the key details:
Points for these kinds of Fortnite tournaments are pretty uniform. You get a ton for a Victory Royale, and less for placement all the way down, until early finishes who get few points. Elims count too. Although, the risk of losing placement points with an early death pushes a lot of players to perform a lot more passively. That’s unless you’re Peterbot, who has been going on big kill streaks in Cups in the lead up to the FNCS itself. The very top players might not be competing in the Champion PJ FNCS cup though.
The tournament will be held at a slightly different time for each region. Keep an eye on the compete tab. 3 hours isn’t the longest time to get 10 games in if you’re performing well, so usually players need al the time they can get.
The event will only give away the skin to the top players. However, there is potential for everyone to win somewhere. Anyone who gets 8 points gets the PJ’s Dream Spray. If you get 40 points, you’ll get the FNCS Hardshell Back Bling. Some of these are also going to be available as drops too. So it comes down to if you want to fight against some sweats in a tournament Fortnite loot pool lobby, or watch part of a stream for your free prize.

If you do have your eyes on the big prize, then this is how many players in each region can receive the full skin and other cosmetics for playing the tournament.
That’s how the tournament works, but what about the skin itself? It’s being held to celebrate the release of the new FNCS skin. These are a regular occurrence in Fortnite. Taking an existing skin or Fortnite character and redecorating it in the themeing of the FNCS for that season. Like super styles, but for tournaments.
This new one is Champion PJ. A fresh version of the PJ character. It’s a fun change from the normal skin too. Like with all these past FNCS skins, it’ll be all over the item shop in coming weeks as we see the FNCS Major 2 finish up. However, it might be gone for a little while after that. These skins aren’t locked away forever. They do come back, but during the FNCS is probably your best chance to collect it since it’ll be its initial release. Of course, winning the Champion PJ Cup is probably the easiest way to unlock it.
