Infinity Blade Fortnite Returns

The new Fortnite OG Season covers the seventh part of Chapter 1, which featured planes, Winterfest, and maybe the most overpowered item we’ve ever seen. The Infinity Blade Fortnite weapon.

Infinity Blade Fortnite Returns

It was the first attempt at a melee item on the map. There’s now something similar to this every season, with a melee combo item being a permanent part of the loot pool. But nothing is like the first one. The Infinity Blade was the most destructive Fortnite item ever added.

This weapon is closest to a Mythic weapon that we saw in Chapter 1. There was a bigger HP bar for players using it, better mobility, it was a bit messy. It was even included in a Fortnite tournament. Not quite an event on the scale of the Fortnite World Cup, but the Winter Royale was pretty thoroughly ruined by this item.

If you want to see why Epic has to be careful with the Fortnite weapons they add the Infinity Blade Fortnite item is coming back for Fortnite OG Season 7. This is what made it such a mess and how it’ll work:

What Was the Infinity Blade Fortnite?

The Fortnite Infinity Blade came to the game in Chapter 7, it was a kind of unique feature. We’d had the Marvel Thanos Gauntlet, a transformation kind of thing with an LTM. But the Infinity Blade was different, it was closer to the Mythics or Bosses we have now. You had to go to a specific place on the map and take a ton of fights to get it.

The Infinity Blade Fortnite item wasn’t in chests, it was simply lodged in the floor. Players could pull it and get the best Fortnite weapon in the game. Only problem was, everyone wanted it. So pretty much everyone dropped there at once. Whoever got the luck of the draw and pulled it had a major advantage over the rest of the lobby.

The Infinity Blade was a melee weapon, the main slash did 75 damage and crazy structure damage. Then the alt fire was a big jump, letting you smash down, destroy builds, and knock back everyone. It was a crazy combination, and you got extra health. 200 more white and 200 more shield. You regenerated health every second, and got 50 HP of siphon. Then 30% faster movement. It was a lot.

The Infinity Blade Fortnite item was a good weapon, which then had a ton of extra features dumped on top. Which meant it got vaulted very quickly.

It’s Coming Back in Fortnite OG

That’s the Infinity Blade Fortnite item, but outside of Fortnite Creative maps, it’s not something you can try out yourself. With Fortnite OG though, players are about to get the chance again.

Fortnite OG was first launched as a mini season that cycled through the back five seasons of Chapter 1 in a week. While it covered Season 7, it was in a truncated form. No Infinity Blade Fortnite item, no full map changes, it wasn’t the best recreation. Since OG became a full game mode though, things have been different. The OG mode now accurately recreates every last detail.

That includes bringing back crazy items like the Infinity Blade Fortnite melee weapon for Season 7. It probably won’t be back for the whole season though. OG does recreate even the smallest details, but its time scale can be different. Like bringing back an item which was originally in for half an hour, and keeping it for a whole weekend.

We don’t know how long the Infinity Blade will be in this time. But it’ll probably be a little longer than last time. At least it won’t be active in tournaments this time.

How it Trashed a $1,000,000 Tournament

One of the most memorable moments with the Infinity Blade Fortnite saw was the Winter Royale. This was an early tester of competitive, where Epic just threw prize pools around without much planning. That’s why Chapter 1 events like the World Cup made the highest earning Fortnite players. But the Winter Royale didn’t go very well.

The infinity blade was in the game. Players grabbed it, and just used it throughout with impunity. Since the jump you could perform smashed all builds, it was pretty much impossible for players to counter. They couldn’t get away. The holder of the sword kept healing too, so they had a ridiculous advantage.

The Infinity Blade Fortnite item will likely be just as disruptive in normal games over the coming weeks. But it won’t be back again, so this is a perfect time to test it out.
