When Does the Fortnite Squid Games Map Release?

We’re expecting a huge new update to come later this year, the Fortnite Squid Game map! This will be a huge new feature for Reload, with a fresh map, but also some new skins. There’s even Fortnite Squid Games Twitch drops coming too. After years of Squid Games being around in Fortnite in a “close but legally distinct” manner, like the Octo Games maps, we’re getting an official one.

The new Fortnite Squid Games map is coming with new cosmetics, weapons, and more. What’s coming with this huge expansion and when?

Fortnite Squid Games Map Coming Soon

Fortnite is getting a new map for Reload. This is going to be something a bit different for the most part. The three maps we’ve had so far focused on older Fortnite POIs. Taking key locations from old Fortnite seasons and shrinking them down. This one is taking a more original approach though.

The new map is called Squid Grounds. The central point is a POI designed around the iconic locations from Squid Games. But there’s some other locations that change things up too. Like Red Greens, a farm POI in the style of Chapter 5. Along with other locales designed around the iconography of Squid Games.

It’s not just the Fortnite Squid Games map though. It’s the start of a bigger change for Fortnite Reload, including getting exclusive weapons for the first time.

New Weapons Coming

A batch of new Fortnite weapons will be arriving alongside the Fortnite Squid Games map in the next update. This is going to include some unvaulted weapons. It’ll also include brand new versions of other items too, with added features. These are the Reload weapons we’ll be getting:

When is the Fortnite Squid Games Release Date?

That’s some of the new content that’s coming, but when will the update arrive? It’s going to launch on June 30th! For the new map, we’ll see it added on this day, but map rotation is going to be a bit different. The new Fortnite Squid Games map will replace Oasis is the rotation. But that map will come back eventually. Older maps will still get cycled in and out too.

The new map will also reset Ranked. The Fortnite ranks for this mode will go back to zero. You’ll have to play a game to get your new rank. It’ll be based on where you reached last time. But it’ll get tuned down a bit to give players room to grind up again.

New Tournaments Coming for the Map

To celebrate the launch of a new map, players can take part in the Squid Games Grounds Cup on June 25th. This is a tournament being played in Duos, on the Slurp Rush map. While it’s a little weird to celebrate the collab without the actual map, it’ll let players unlock the new Squid Games skins early. These could be some of the best Fortnite skins eventually!

It wouldn’t be a real Fortnite collab without new skins too. These are the new items we’ll expect to see in the Item Shop refreshes along with the new map:

There will be some Fortnite Squid Games Twitch Drops! You won’t quite unlock a free Fortnite skin. But the new collab will have a few extra items for you. Players will need to watch 2 total hours to unlock all of the items. These are the drops:

• The Games Banner Icon – 30 Minutes watched
• Cuddle Games Spray – 1 Hour
• Guarded Games Spray – 1 Hour 30 Minutes
• Ddakji lip Emoticon – 2 Hours

These are all going to be available from June 27th at 9 AM! Players can unlock them by watching any channel that’s part of the Fortnite category. It doesn’t specifically need to have drops featured. There isn’t any mini-game like the last Twitch Fortnite drops either. You only have until June 29th to unlock everything though.
