One of the best items in the game has just been removed from Fortnite tournaments! The Fortnite Myst Gauntlets won’t be available in tournaments. The pub lobbies, Ranked, and everything else will still feature them. But we’re going to see a big change in how FNCS and Cash Cups games are played.

The Myst Gauntlets are one half of the best items in the game. When first added, their appeal wasn’t immediately obvious. They were great for taking down bosses. But the advertised use of a shotgun alternative was never going to fly in tournaments. Pros eventually figured out a much better use though. Now, they’ve been removed.
Ahead of FNCS Major 3 beginning its Group Stage, the Fortnite Myst Gauntlets are gone. It’s a move we’ve been expecting. With the delay mainly coming from Epic’s summer break. While it stops the build destroying spam that’s been irritating lately, it does also ruin one of the best movement tools. Meaning we’ll be much more locked down soon. How will things look now the Fortnite Myst Gauntlets have been removed?
Fortnite Myst Gauntlets Removed
In the weeks while Epic has been on a break, some new uses for the Myst Gauntlets have been found. Then become pretty prevalent in Fortnite esports. Players have been able to take advantage of the Trios format in play right now and the Myst Gauntlets. A few players spam the Fortnite Myst Gauntlets with their decent build damage, while the third pushes in. It’s a pretty effective move.
On top of that, with the Crow transformation being added in a mid-season update, the Gauntlets became a more useful carry. When you combine the Myst Form cape with the Gauntlets, it becomes a double slot item. Combining the two. This takes the crow form transformation (great for rotation, since you’re invulnerable while tis active) and gives it many more uses. They start to share a charge, which is massively beneficial for the Myst Form.

It has 10 uses in the normal form. But once combined, you get a total count of 200 time using it for both. Essentially, a massive powerup. Once it’s a double slot, it’s enough to make it one of the best Fortnite items this season.
Between the much more useful rotation and blowing through builds, the Myst Gauntlets were becoming a big stand out. But with Epic removing the Fortnite Myst Gauntlets from tournaments, we’re going to see a big change to the meta.
New Meta With Must Gauntlets Gone
With this latest change, the Myst Gauntlets are gone from the tournament loot pool. Which is going to have two big effects on gameplay.
The first is the spamming through builds thing won’t work anymore. Players who had been using that to pressure in the late-game will need to stick to normal tactics. We might see more spray weapons getting carried in their slots.
The second is that the rotation bird transformation Myst Form is very different now. 10 uses will mean players need to be a lot more selective. We could see things getting more locked down with players saving their bird uses for later in the game. It’s proven very good for grabbing the high ground, or even evading before you go for the heal off. Trios might want to keep one in supply for the very end.

The Gauntlets are great for disposing of those spire bosses that are protecting the exotics weapons. Along with the other bosses. But taking them down with weapons isn’t really a big problem. Not to mention the teams competing for Demon’s Dojo are both farming the rocks that spawn in the fight right now. So, destroying the boss early isn’t even wanted.
Removing the Fortnite Myst Gauntlets is going to change gameplay for the FNCS. We’re approaching the Group Stage now, where we get solid weeks of competition until the Major concludes. We’ll see the Chapter 6 Season 4 meta reach its finally stage over the coming weeks.
