What Does the Stick of Truth do in Fortnite?

The last update began a South Park mini event in Fortnite, with skins and some in-game items. But out of those collab additions, the best item is a little confusing. What does the Stick of Truth do in Fortnite?

it’s an item which can completely turn the tide of a game. Something that gives a single team a major advantage. Kind of like the boss transformations we’ve seen in past Fortnite seasons, but not quite as powerful. It’s just an frustrating of an item though, with some teams already figuring out how to use the Stick of Truth to completely derail a game.

It isn’t on the same level as it was back in the original South Park game. We haven’t quite kept pace with South Park’s own lore there. But the Stick of Truth is one of the best items in the game right now. If you want to know what the Stick of Truth does in Fortnite, this is how it all works:

What Does the Stick of Truth Do in Fortnite?

The Stick of Truth in Fortnite is a powerful item, it’s something that lets you take control of the storm. Once you get the Stick of Truth, you can only use it once. Then it vanishes.

Once you get it, you can activate it at any time. Doing so will begin the final circle of the game at any time. It’ll completely close in around your location. Giving you the best positioning for the rest of the game.

Some players have gotten pretty creative with using the Stick of Truth in Fortnite. They’ve picked it up, and immediately swam out far into the ocean. Meaning every player on the team needs to push through the water to stay alive. Others have used it in caves, or hard to reach places.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Stick of Truth doesn’t work in the storm. it isn’t a Storm Flip that can save you while camping out there. There’s another limitation. Players can see where you are since the Stick is marked. Meaning there is an incentive to use it. Since a lot of the lobby will head over to try and grab it.

It’s not a guarantee of winning the game. But it does mean everyone jumps on you. The storm circle closes fast and for some reason Epic has chosen the same update that enabled the Stick of Truth to turn off the main mobility, so keeping up is a bit of a problem.

Since it’s just a storm circle decider though, it can be beaten. Players can easily head over to you and eliminate you. The holder of the Stick of Truth has the bigger advantage though, especially if they think through where the last circle should be and grab meds accordingly.

Where to Get the Stick of Truth

To actually get the Stick of Truth, you need to be quick or lucky. When the Rift Encounter begins, a little warning will go out. It’ll then get marked on the map. You’ll need to head over as quickly as possible. The problem is though, the exact location is random.

When it was first added in the South Park Fortnite update, some thought it would spawn at Cartmanland every game. That hasn’t been the case though. Instead, it’s spawned in a different spot in each game. It’ll be marked on the map, and sat on a red pillow once you get there. Easy to spot thanks to its glow.

If you get there first, you can pick it up and use it. It takes up an inventory spot. Once using it, you rise into the air before the storm circle changes. It’ll gradually close around the exact position you used it on. Which is marked on the map as a stick hologram.

Spawn Rate Explained

If you actually want to use the Stick of Truth in Fortnite, tracking it down is only half the battle. It doesn’t even spawn every game.

Like the old boss transformations, this is a “chance to happen” kind of thing. To stop it getting too annoying. Although, these kinds of things always feel like they don’t happen when you’re looking for it, yet it’s every game for hours when you just want to play a normal game of Fortnite. Made worse by the best Fortnite weapons being quite rare at the moment too.

Basically, it works like any other Rift Encounter. It has a chance of happening in each game, but it’s not guaranteed. There’s no way to tell if you’re in the right game when you first launch in. You’ve just got to wait and see. It’s just RNG.
