How can you redeem a Fortnite gift card? The title has a huge item shop with an enormous roster of items. So, players end up with items as gifts quite frequently. It’s easier for someone to gift their Fortnite playing friend a card than to stand with them while they chose something from the item shop. Plus, there’s two options to do that. You can gift skins in Fortnite, or you can use a Fortnite gift card. An alternative system where players get a bit more choice.

How to Redeem a Fortnite Gift Card

For a long time, the Fortnite gift card has been a pretty popular way of buying things in the game. You can keep V-Bucks on the card and redeem them when you actually want to buy something. When Epic hiked the price of V-Bucks, these gift cards were the last way to grab them at the old rate too!

It’s not always the simplest to redeem a Fortnite gift card though. The game doesn’t have a clear redemption area like you’ll find in some other titles. But if you have a gift card, how do you use it? This is how you can redeem a Fortnite git card:

How to Redeem a Fortnite Gift Card

If you’ve got a Fortnite gift card, then redeeming it is pretty simple. But you will have to head to the Epic website rather than just doing it through the game.

If you want to redeem your gift card, then you can do it on the official site:

  • Go to account settings
  • Under Display Name, find V-Bucks Card
  • Once on that page, click get started
  • Type in the code from your Fortnite gift card
  • Click Next
  • Choose your main platform for playing Fortnite
  • Your V-bucks should show up

That’s all it takes to redeem a Fortnite gift card! If you’re playing on most platforms, that’s it. But on some consoles, there is an extra step. The Fortnite players on Xbox and PlayStation will need to go through an extra verification step.

Redeeming on Console

On Xbox and PlayStation, you’ll get a code generated after you redeem a Fortnite gift code. You’ll then see instructions on how to redeem this. It’s to make sure the V-Bucks work on their marketplaces. They require more security than everyone else, for some reason.

You can skip this stage by redeeming them to a different platform. But if you want them on those consoles you have to use the extra step.

Limitations

That’s how to redeem a Fortnite Gift Card but are any limits? The V-Bucks cards have a few limitations. The cards have expiry dates, just to keep things current. These dates have been relevant quite a bit in the past. When Epic hikes their V-Buck prices, these cards are still at the old prices. So players tend to buy them out until the expiry date.

There’s also the platform problem. Some platforms have different rules and like to keep their V-Bucks on their platform. Now that we have the web version of the item shop, it’s a bit easier. Anyone can buy stuff here then use it in-game on their platforms. But keep it in mind if you’re claiming V-Bucks to use on a console.

Giveaways and Extras

Every now and again, Epic likes to throw in an extra incentive to get players to use and then redeem a Fortnite gift card. Typically, a free Fortnite item alongside your V-Bucks, or bonus V-Bucks. These are usually credited to your game pretty quickly. You redeem a Fortnite git card, then as the V-bucks come in a new item arrives too.

There isn’t a promotion for the gift cards right now. We’ve had some cool items included in the past though. It’s worth keeping an eye out. When one is running, it’s better to use a Fortnite gift card instead of buying your V-Bucks in-game like normal.

What’s on Fortnite Gift Cards?

The Fortnite git cards aren’t just V-Bucks, the same system works to redeem other items too. Over the years, we’ve had items given away with redeem codes too. Like the Fortnite FNCS Pickaxe code that was given out at live events last year. These codes can be ways to get rare Fortnite skins.

It essentially means that you’re able to hold onto a code until you want to redeem it. It means you’re not limited by when Epic wants an item to be for sale. These are the rarer kind of Fortnite codes though. For the most part, the codes are for V-Bucks.

Fortnite V-Buck codes are how you physically purchase them. Then, you can trade them in for anything you want. It’s a good way of giving a gift to someone who just wants Fortnite skins.
